Investigating the relationship between autophagy and exosome release
Understanding the neurotoxic effects of Abeta exosomes
Responsibilities Include:
Created agar plates, transformed, grew, and harvested E. coli
Executed western blotting using SDS PAGE
Completed assays including Annexin V/PI staining, MitoSOX red staining, JC-1 staining and additional immunocytochemistry procedures using a Fluoview FV10i confocal microscope and a Nikon Eclipse Ti live cell microscope
Performed both cervical dislocation and PFA perfusion on mice and collected mouse brain samples, dissected mouse brain and removed hippocampus for biochemical procedures
Assisted in maintaining mouse breeder population, setting up mating pairs, and ensuring preservation of mouse lines
Completed genotyping on newborn mouse tails by extracting DNA from tails and using PCR
Operated microtome-cryostat to slice mouse brain and performed immunohistochemistry procedures on brain tissue
Employed Leica RM 2145 microtome to slice parafilm embedded tissue
Harvested exosomes from cell and neuronal media and human plasma using differential centrifugation coupled with ultracentrifugation
Analyzed exosome size and number using confocal imaging and Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis
Performed behavioral tests on mice including: elevated plus maze, rotarod, radial arm water maze, fear conditioning, novel object recognition, and passive avoidance
Supervised and instructed undergraduates and new staff
