Senior Thermoform Package Designer

My primary responsibilities were as Engineering and Tool Room Supervisor.

Provided Tool quoting, scheduling, project management and tooling oversight.

Created advanced 3D Designs of disposable plastic packaging for the agricultural, produce, bakery, consumer and the medical industries.

Designed thermoform Molds, Match Metal Trims, Forged Knives, Steel Rule Trims, Cut-in-Place Tooling and Up & Down Stackers for Lyle, Brown, Sencorp and Zed equipment. Created detailed 2D part and assembly drawings, subassemblies, full assemblies and detailed BOM sheets for all projects.

Presented these designs at design review meetings with management, customers and vendors to finalize designs during and prior to First Article of Inspection.

Used MS Power Point and Adobe Acrobat for Customer presentations.

Short term contract position to establish an Engineering Department and train employees in the use of 3D Cad including procedures used in the design of thermoform tooling.

Pactiv Corp, Vernon, CA February 2006 – January 2012

Engineer III

Owner of 2 design patents for new products. Co-Authored several other design patents.

Worked with R&D to develop concepts of new single use plastic food packaging using 3D solid modeling software and later presented to the customer utilizing MS Power Point.

Modified existing product designs to resolve customer concerns and increase the Product Life Cycle.

Engineered and designed complete thermoform tooling including matched metal trims.

Worked with Production and Maintenance to resolve manufacturing and material handling issues resulting in increased production and a reduction in the amount of scrap.

Co-Developed a manual of Tooling Design Guidelines and Standards that resulted in increased production efficiencies.

Decreased the amount of time from concept to production from 15 weeks to as little as 6 weeks though the use of standardized tooling designs and methods.
