PROJECT DETAILS

CTS – NEXUS

Client: Academy Sports, USA Role: ETL Developer Duration: Jul 2011 to Apr 2012

The project involved handling of source data (from SQL Server, Netezza) and loads into target (Oracle). Datastage is used to read data from various source system and load into Oracle. SSIS is used to interact with the complex flat files and SQL Server to provide the reasonable data to target.

The project also involved considerable expertise in developing SQL scripts and executed using SSIS package to achieve our target. UNIX scripts were developed for runtime parameters.

Roles & Responsibilities:

In Datastage, design and development of complex jobs and sequence to convert data from different source systems to target application to meet its business rules.

Create complete SSIS package, build, deploy and execute the packages in different environments to come up with the uniformed data.

Analysis and cleansing of data along with performance tuning of the code to handle huge data volume.

Developed the reconciliation framework to ensure successful conversion from end to end.

Creating value add assets by developing automation scripts using shell to review the malicious Datastage code and parameter files and documenting specific complex module implementations.

CTS - DATA MIGRATION

Client: Academy Sports, USA Role: Senior ETL Developer Duration: May 2012 to Feb 2014

Academy Sports is retail major in USA specializing in Sports & Outdoor Goods. It has six legacy source systems in different Database (SQL Server, Netezza and Oracle). The challenge was to build a Business Data Warehouse for the data from all these legacy systems using Oracle.

The complex thing was the project involved different sources like Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza and Flat Files, Those data needs to migrated into Oracle database

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a senior resource, I was given with the responsibility to understand the flow of the existing process and plan all the build activities for the team of 5 members

Developed a template for data flow and control flow which was to be used as the base for further ETL development

Created efficient Jobs, SQL Mail Agent and schedule SSIS packages

Analysis of data from different source systems

Clearly understand the existing packages and its data flow for each source system in SSIS

Policy ODS is the data hub for all policy related information. The data from various policy application systems gets loaded into PODS by ETL batch jobs, for consumption by various users. The data in PODS is not consistent with the source system data due to numerous reasons, making it unusable. The overall objective of the project is to remediate the data in policy ODS.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Understanding the gaps with the existing ETL design and defining an overall ETL architecture to overcome the data integrity and consistency issues

Performance tuning in datastage code and database objects to meet the SLA

Leading the technical team from onshore, holding responsibility for all the technical deliverables

Planning task for development team based on deliverables

Managing the daily huddles to resolve any development issues and coordinating with design team to obtain clarification for any design concerns raised

Creating datastage ETL jobs, database objects and writing UNIX scripts
