EXPERIENCE

My experience includes the construction of many high rise residential condominium buildings as well as commercial, industrial, mixed use and design-build projects throughout Canada and the United States. My specific abilities consist of personnel engagement, ethical team leadership, land selection, committee management, process management, OMB appeals, project planning and scheduling, consultant oversight, proforma development, construction budgeting and trade negotiations, contract preparation, permit oversight, value engineering, sub-trade packaging, income recovery, overhead budgeting and forecasting, quality control, stakeholder liaison and client satisfaction.

DOMINUS CONSTRUCTION GROUP June 2013 to Oct. 31, 2015

Employed as Senior Project Manager for the 3P City of Brampton Administration Building. The project is Gold LEED Certified with a total value of $205m. The project consists of a 220,000 S.F. office building over a 5 level underground garage for 440 cars with a pedestrian bridge over a city street and a 30,000 S.F. presentation and meeting centre connected to the existing city hall building.

TRYBAL CONSTRUCTION INC. September 2012 to May 2013

Employed as Director of Operations (Canada) to set up and then head the operations of this U.S. based design/build general Contractor for the new Canadian division. The expansion was shelved when the corporate vice president died.

CABROE INC. October 2009 TO June 2012

Engaged by a European investment group as the Canadian representative and C.O.O. designate to find, evaluate, budget, engage designers and complete the due diligence program for the construction of four commercial and mixed use residential properties in the GTA. The Principals retired to Europe without proceeding with any of the properties.

UNITED LANDS CORP. December 1995 to September 2008

Employed as Project Manager and then promoted to Director of Operations for the construction of a 3 phase 318 unit condo and underground parking garage for 600 cars and then a 13 story condo with underground parking in the GTA.

EKON MANAGEMENT SERVICES LTD. March 1995 to March 1996

Engaged as owner’s agent by John Hancock and Manulife as construction monitor for high rise commercial projects in Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Ottawa.

MOLLENHAUER GROUP OF COMPANIES February 1986 – February 1994

Vice-President

Designated as corporate Vice-President with the mandate to create and staff the residential development/construction division of Mollenhauer Properties Ltd with overhead budgeting accountability and full profit and loss responsibility.

Appointed as a key member of the management committee for all projects. As a member, I evaluated consultants, directed and approved building design, project budgets, negotiated contracts, and leases and managed municipal approvals.

Managed overhead budgets, objectives and strategic direction while training staff in suitable problem solving methods and effective customer service procedures.

Successfully developed and built the following Ontario properties during this time:

87 Luxury Town home condominiums, including all infrastructure and the construction of the 18 hole championship Beacon Hall Golf Course.

302 unit, 26 storey, Kingsgate Condominium in Toronto

150 Unit,15 storey, Marina Bay Condominium in Barrie

135 Unit,12 storey, Regatta Condominium in Barrie

3 office towers totaling 350,000 square feet in Mississauga and Toronto

THE IMPERIAL GROUP OF COMPANIES August 1979 – January 1986

Executive Vice-President and Director Construction (Canada/U.S.)

Joined this Winnipeg based development company with the mandate to create a multi-branch construction company throughout Western Canada and the South Western United States while achieving performance, productivity and overhead budget goals established by the Board of Directors.

Developed and fully staffed successful separate construction operating units in Winnipeg, Brandon, Edmonton, Calgary and then Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston as well as a pre-engineered building company in Winnipeg, Regina and Orangeville.

Developed a single family home division in Brandon Manitoba, a 300 room hotel in Winnipeg and then created a separate profitable property management division for all projects held by the company.

Under my direction the companies developed and built:

6800 multiple residential units in low rise, townhouse and high rise configurations

2 business parks with a total area of 950,000 square feet of space

3 office buildings totaling 840,000 square feet of space.

Nursing homes in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Hamilton and Windsor Ont.

BIRD CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LIMITED April 1974 - June 1979

Regional Manager (Alberta, NWT and Yukon)

Joined this general construction company specializing in institutional and civil works as a full time employee upon graduation from university.

Achieved experience at all levels of management from Field Surveyor, through project superintendent and project manager on institutional and high rise buildings where upon completion I was moved into the estimating division rising to Chief Estimator, Branch Manager and finally Regional Manager.

Developed the original project management criteria for the downtown campus of the University of Winnipeg and then applied them to projects in Thompson, Manitoba, Edmonton, Alberta and Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Attended an internationally recognized “Critical Path” training course and in conjunction with the Vice President Construction and then implemented the program within the company

Mentored and trained all company estimators during my term as Chief Estimator and published overall criteria for advancement

Managed successful branch operations in Regina then Edmonton where I was promoted to Regional Manager of Alberta, Yukon and NWT.
