The City of Calgary is the Municipal Corporation for Calgary city in Canada.

This project is to implement an identity management solution which will allow The City of Calgary consumers, such as businesses and citizens to register themselves with The City of Calgary to access online services. This system should manifest the concept of identity whereby any interactions for a given business or citizen can be authorized and managed by using a single login credential.

Phase-1:

The City of Calgary uses OIM 11g R2 for managing employee and non-employee identities. In the current system, provisioning a user proves to be time consuming, requiring manual operation, and costly. To overcome these difficulties The City developed a strategic vision to build an Identity Management (IDM) solution that satisfies The City’s present and future needs.

OIM 11g R2 was identified as the product of choice to satisfy the requirements of The City.

Phase-2:

OIM 11g R2 implementation is enhanced to integrate with Remedy and Corporate Security Access Card system (Lenel DB). A custom Advanced Search feature is implemented in Staff Directory.

FFIC OIM System:

Fireman's Fund Insurance Company is a company of Allianz, one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world.

This project is use to automate the FFIC’s Agents, Agent Admins, OIM Admins, Support Central and Policyholder related operations by providing ‘Identity and Access Management Solution’.

In order to meet all such requirements as part of the Strategic Security Initiative (SSI) OIM implementation has been completed for external users of FFIC namely Agents and Policy Holders.

To manage the different agents a delegated administration model is defined within OIM where a group of agents called Agent Administrator or National Agent Administrators are defined who have the capability to manage agents within their agency.

A special category of FFIC internal users called as Agent Admin Specialist are defined who have the capability to manage Agent Administrators or National Agent Administrators.

Another category of FFIC internal users namely Support Central have been defined who have restricted capability to manage Agents and Policy Holders

Parental Lock (AAA System):

The Permissions Gateway i.e. Parental Lock is required to provide Vodafone customers with tools to control their access to content and premium services by channel and within spend controls. It is also required to comply with regulatory requirements. The Permissions Gateway must also include functionality to allow Vodafone to offer it as a service to any Wholesale customers (MVNOs)

The parental Lock application was implemented on SUN identity management platform consists of SUN Identity manager, Access manager, Directory server and Web Reverse proxy server. This application can be classified into 3 parts.

• Provisioning: If subscriber is 18+ then they can provision themselves to access adult contents. They can get provisioned by self provisioning through web (internet) or WAP (handset) or mediated provisioning through VF call centre (Retail CSR), VF CSR (Corporate), VF stores, VF dealers or respective MVNO customer care

• Core Parental Lock system: The core Parental Lock system will manage the provisioning, authorizing and authenticating the subscriber when they try to or want to access the restricted contents

• Content access system: The restricted content can be accessed through Premium SMS/MMS and VLive platform

Consulted Nokia Siemens networks vendor to inquire the functioning of GTM switch for load balancing of network traffic between two instances and coordinated in reconciliation of Siebel and AAA system, ISAAC and AAA system for pre and post implementation phase of WSSA project. Prepaid CDR/EDR calls processing – CDR/EDR Parser.

An application which receives the CDR (Call Details Record) files binary encoded files in ASN.1 standards. The binary encoded file contains Prepaid Customer usage like Voice, SMS, MMS, GPRS, BONUS and Adjustments. The application decodes the file CDR-by-CDR, loads into memory and updates the prepaid database. Various Self Serve applications use the latest prepaid customer data from the database. The binary encoded files are sent from Alcatel Integrated Convergent engine for prepaid usage.

CDR/EDR file parser: A file parser was developed to parse all the CDR files and update the prepaid database. The parser needs to read and parse the file line-by-line update the database with in 5 mins of time. Files are received every 5 minutes from the Alcatel central. Each file size is of average 100MB. The parser was written using the ASN.1 compiler. It translates an Abstract Syntax Notation 1(ASN.1) source file into computer language source files that allow ASN.1 data to be decoded. The parser C API was written on top of the compiler, specific to the application logics. Memory management and searching of the data were the major challenges in the project. Each CDR is a concatenation of the T-L-V (Tag-Length-Value) formats, which are binary encoded as per ASN.1 (Telecom) standards.

Customer File Parser: A file parser, which parses and updates the prepaid database by the end of the day. It performs the reconciliation of the latest data in the file sent by the Alcatel prepaid customer base.

AUTOMATIC TOP UP (ATU)

ATU is an application which top ups Vodafone prepay customers account automatically either using debit card or credit card based on periodic and threshold recharge options. Periodic recharges are those who prefer to recharge once in a month. Threshold recharges are those when the customer balance falls below a registered threshold value. The prepay customers who wish to have the ATU setup, needs to register online from myvodafone.com.au in my account option.

ATU issues recharge commands for a prepay customer based on CC/DD topup via the CORBA interface to AIN.

CAMPAIGN MANAGER

An application to send bulk SMS to VODAFONE customers informing their expiry of their account, promotional Text’s, advertising etc,. The application involves sending out TXT in bulk amount to customers, which covers various telecom interfaces like MGA, SMSC .It delivers sms’s using SMPP protocol. The Stake holders and the marketing people come up with the requirement to send a new TXT (advertise) via SMS, depending on the daily load and capacity of the system, decisions are made and campaigns are scheduled to send out sms with system requirements.

SIM 2 ACCOUNT BALANCE

An application which provides Account Balance via SMS to VODAFONE Prepay-PostPay customers. A postpay-prepay customer sends out a blank sms to a number requesting for the account balance. The system will process the request validating whether the customer belongs to Prepay or post pay in the database, depending on his group (Plan) the data is fetched from the database and sent back as a SMS to the customer with various details. This includes functionality in handling various requests from the customers, processing the request and calculating his balance amount. Different SMS is sent out to the customers depending on his value bundle and plan.

HTTP 2 SMS Gateway

A HTTP Interface that allows the ability to send out short messages (SMS) to all VODAFONE customers. A common gateway (application), which allows other interfacing applications to send out SMS to the customers’ worldwide by making an HTTP post request. The functionality involves processing bulk amount of http requests at any moment, submitting the phone number and the exact message to MGA (Multi thread gateway Architecture) to send out the actual sms to the customers without any delay.

EMAIL 2 SMS Gateway

Reverse Proxy

Reverse proxy is used to provide external applications or internet (www) users to access Vodafone internal applications/services/servers that is behind a firewall.
