Highlights of Professional Experience

MANAGEMENT

Successfully Program Managed several project including; design and prototyping powertrains and chassis for 4WD military vehicles and engineering changes for passenger car transmissions.

Developed program management change implementation procedures.

Performed root cause analysis for powertrain, chassis and brake military vehicle test failures.

Started, managed and grew Product Design and Development Department that included design and development utilizing CAD/CAE, FEA, Prototyping and Testing for two different companies. Led to increased sales.

Matured the product design and development departments into full-service organizations including QS9000/ISO9001 & TS16949 certification at both companies, as well as full-service supplier recognition with Ford Motor Company which resulted in single sourcing of certain product lines.

Jointly developed project statement of work requirements with customer including budget and timing. Ensured conformance to deliverables, budget and timing targets. Met or exceeded all cost and timing targets.

Prepared and presented technical presentations to Domestic, European and Japanese customers.

Full responsibility for all aspects of trade show participation. Included: booth design, set up and transportation, contracts with outside contractors and responsible for personnel logistics.

Managed tool making, cutter grind & prototype departments of up to 14 people. Resulted in increased through put.

Evaluated and developed major plant cost reduction proposals and/or directed/coordinated their implementation. Included: plant rearrangements and product line transfers

Responsible for selection, inventory control, manufacturing and maintenance of new and replacement durable and perishable tooling. Controlled and reduced annually by 5% a $1,000,000 annual tooling budget.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Created product design concepts and detailed drawings for components using both manual and CAD drafting and applied applicable Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including performing tolerance stacks.

Developed design concepts that included secondary components and fasteners with the base component in order to provide modular assemblies.

Project managed complete design and development programs that include: initial design, directing CAD & FEA, process, development, Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFME) and Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R). Performed design reviews with manufacturing facility and with both Domestic and European customers.

Designed and developed aftermarket products that included joint ownership of three utility patents.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

Selected part processing; capital equipment justification, specification, and selection; trouble shooting and project management.

Performed process development projects for machining, sheet metal stampings, fabricating and assembly operations including; spin forming, GROB roll forming and flow forming.

Recommended product design changes including GD&T revisions to facilitate Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA). These recommendations resulted in reduced manufacturing costs and quality improvements.

Provided designs and details on various machine, fixture, tool and gage assignments. Coordinated design work with outside sources and worked with tolerance and process charts.
