Thameslink, Network Rail(UK) July 2009 – October 2011 Network Rail is a partially Government-funded organisation, which owns and operates Britain’s rail infrastructure. The Thameslink Programme is a £5.5bn major project to upgrade the existing Bedford to Brighton (through central London) overground line, with an overall objective of increasing train size, frequency and speed.

Programme Design Engineer

o Working as part of a small engineering team to deliver £80m worth of DC Traction Upgrade works as part of the Thameslink Programme. Major works include New London Bridge Substation, relocation and upgrade of Gatwick Substation;

o Responsible for design management and co-ordination for the project delivery team

o Responsible for all aspects of AC/ DC Equipment procurement and design including co-ordination, integration, budget, programme and value engineering

o Responsible for reviewing engineering submissions/designs and tenders

o Responsible for interfacing with other project teams and third parties

o Responsible for writing technical specifications and remits; o Involved in end to end LV and HV design for traction substations; o Involved in SCADA design and integration

One of three engineers delivering a £50m renewals programme in the south east of England. Responsible for HV switchgear renewals at ten DC Traction substations. Project Engineer

o Signed off equipments FATs on behalf of Network Rail o Conducted routine on site safety inspections

Assistant Electrification and Plant Engineer September 2006 – July 2008

As a graduate I was involved in various areas and projects which include Points Heating RCM, DC Circuit Breaker Fault Operation Analysis, and Maintenance in order to gain a broad understanding of electrification principals involved with the railway.

Electromech Design & Assembly Ltd July 2004 – August 2006 Electromech are a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of electronic and electro mechanical assembly and systems.
