PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

BP Exploration and Production, Houston, TX 2011 – 2016

Maintenance Execution Manager

Managed maintenance team of 40 offshore technicians (Instrument, Electrical, Mechanical) as well as 4 planners, 2 warehouse coordinators and 2 team leads to safely and efficiently execute maintenance tasks.

Implemented standardized Work Management System in the Gulf of Mexico that will improve reliability in data collection as well as maintenance execution efficiency from the front end to back end of work process.

Coordinated with TAR planning to ensure TAR work scopes were 'fit for purpose' and were supported by maintenance, resulting in safe and effective task execution while minimizing rework.

Built out job plan library and improved job plan formatting which increased planners' work quality and will improve wrench time by providing technicians with a complete work package.

Analyzed KPI feedback and implemented measures that raised safety-critical work compliance to 100%

Collaborated with Project Engineering during project design resulting in maintainable installations that incorporated lessons learned as well as updated maintenance strategies.

Revised and upgraded maintenance practices to ensure related activities complied with regulatory standards and Operations Management System, resulting in zero Non-Compliance Incidents.

Engaged offshore maintenance team to incorporate practical feedback into the implementation of equipment reliability strategies and procedures, preserving valuable knowledge while updating maintenance practices.

Reliability Engineer

Responsible for resolving/preventing/troubleshooting production losses and equipment issues by performing RCFAs and 5Y investigations as well as identifying and implementing new PMs.

Developed new/improved PMs for offshore equipment utilizing Reliability Studies that eliminated wasteful PMs and introduced effective PMs that minimized downtime of production critical equipment.

Mentored younger engineers to aid technical development and to speed integration into the organization.

Standardized specifications/repair requirements, and revised purchasing processes and stocking philosophies as core member of the Valve Integrator team that improved ball valve delivery times by 70% and reduced engineering costs by $2.6 million.

Facilitated the introduction of an upgraded pipe joint configuration that eliminated risks associated with field welding on a live unit.

Performed data analysis to validate anecdotal evidence of fire and gas device failures resulting in the decision to replace the devices with a more reliable substitute that increased safety in the field.

Provided revisions to BP bolt torque procedure by accounting for use of 'crows foot' extensions and effectively eliminated errors of bolt torquing of up to 15% when extensions were not considered.

Followed through on failure investigations and used the findings to ensure PMs, BOMs and spare parts were updated, resulting in a reduction of taxable inventory and fit for purpose PMs.

Ineos, La Porte, TX 2005 – 2011

Reliability Team Supervisor

Supervised 3 mechanics that were responsible for repairs and upgrades and 3 reliability and condition monitoring analysts that were responsible for vibration, oil and infrared analyses (predictive maintenance) with the goal of reduced downtime from unreliable equipment.

Engineered and managed a $450,000 project to replace an end of life large stainless steel flash drum that eliminated the risk of it leaking while in service.

Identified and installed improved seals, lubrication systems and emission controls that increased equipment runtime.

Led reliability based continuous improvement efforts (NDT, laser alignment, reduced pipe stress, foundation repairs, and documentation) that contributed to extending equipment runtime and improving system integrity.

Centralized the storage of electronic maintenance records achieving standardized record keeping and retaining “lessons learned.”

Introduced computer lubrication database used with handheld computers to streamline data collection and tracking, ensuring correct lubricants were used and leaks were properly identified and monitored.

Led plant efforts to repair or revise equipment coupled with targeted process improvements that reduced scrap production by 2%

Overhauled plastic extruder gearboxes (field boring, replaced bearings) achieving a reduction of vibration that extended service life of equipment.

Led Root Cause Analysis efforts on flare systems, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, rotary valves and blowers that led to plant compliance with environmental requirements while meeting production goals.

Engineered vessel repairs and performed rerate calculations that prevented unnecessary purchase of new equipment.

Performed FMEAs that resulted in elimination of unproductive PMs and addition of more effective ones on a plant wide basis.

BP Chemicals, Pasadena, TX 2000 – 2005

Project Engineer

Responsible for engineering and installation of 'small cap' projects while managing the $7million budget and coordinating the activities of 4 drafters, 2 contract engineers and a construction organization of 20 contractors to maximize resource allocation and productivity.

Convinced plant leadership to install piping that bypassed damaged equipment and resulted in avoidance of $500,000 in production losses.

Installed a $100,000 steam project that reduced plant variable costs (4 month payback).

Implemented a $300,000 project that produced a new synthetic oil product for the market.

Led multiple projects ensuring all were built to plan and met safety, production and environmental goals.

Reliability Engineer

Identified process and equipment constraints by using monitoring technology to identify performance problems.

Increased mean time between pump failures from 4 years to 7 years to improve unit reliability.

Installed a $350,000 project that improved heat exchanger performance and maintainability.

Tracked and maintained rotating equipment reliability metrics (mean time between failures) and successfully identified bad actors for further interventions.

Highlighted and addressed safety concerns with equipment pressure protection devices which resulted in improved PMs and a revised venting scheme to prevent personnel exposure to the process.

Upgraded and corrected equipment consistently increasing runtime and reliability (seals, pipe stress, lubrication improvements).

Managed the site RBI program for fixed equipment mechanical integrity, enabling the plant to extend inspection intervals while maintaining integrity.

ADDITIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Lyondell Petrochemical/Equistar, Channelview, TX

Maintenance/Fixed Equipment Engineer

Introduced a new coating that prevented high temperature cracking of stainless steel on superheaters.

Justified an $800,000 deaerator replacement project based on its poor oxygen removal performance and projected chemical costs achieving full payback in 1 year.

Managed equipment repair projects and provided engineering support to project engineering.

Engineered the project to replace two 60” flare tips as well as install new steam supply lines to the flares which ensured environmental compliance.

EDUCATION

Master of Business Administration, C.T. Bauer College of Business, University Of Houston, Houston, TX

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Highest Honors, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
