Network Technician – Switch Technician with multiple responsibilities in the following areas:
Maintain network switch for 310 plus wireless cell sites providing voice and data services in East Tennessee, and Southwest Virginia
Install and test DS1, DS3, OC3 and OC12 telecommunications networks. Proficient in the use of various types of test equipment to test DS1, DS3, OC3 and OC12 circuits.
Successfully manage the installation and integration of many wireless cell site projects for over 310 cell sites in the East Tennessee Network. Including all phases of carrier additions for existing wireless cell sites to include voice and data carriers.
Perform translations to build Modular Cell sites in the East Tennessee Switch and ECP for Series II, Flexent Modular 2.0 and 4.0 Cell sites to include EVDO sites.
Configure, test, and turn up circuits in Juniper M40E aggregate routers and Alcatel-Lucent 7750SR routers to support voice and data circuits to wireless cell sites.
Perform all phases of maintenance to include preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled on the following equipment: Lucent 5ESS Digital Switch, Tellabs 5500 DACS, Lucent Any Path voice mail system, 1XRNC equipment, MMAP Application Processors (AP’s) and 1678 PDACS.
Familiar with test and operational configurations of the DC power plant systems and backup generators for a network switching center.
Build, test, and troubleshoot SS7 Signaling links between the East Tennessee MTSO and other connecting switches.
Conduct inventory audits, using PeopleSoft, on all serialized equipment located in the MTSO.
Schedule and perform operational system checks on all fire suppression systems in the East Tennessee MSC.
Work closely with numerous vendors on the installation of a wide variety of equipment and perform quality control checks on these installations to ensure that they meet Verizon Wireless standards.
Possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Possess programming and computer skills with emphasis on ProComm, Reflection, XNG and Remedy Trouble Ticket system.
