PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Bank of America/ MERRILL LYNCH, Jersey City, NJ & Melville, NY

Vice President, Sourcing Manager, Technology Sourcing – Data Center & Distributed Hardware Services

2000 – 2015

Data Center Services:

Compute Grid (Private Cloud) – Team lead to develop RFP, negotiate, and draft contract for Compute Grid that uses lesser priced third party data centers to increase compute capacity while reducing power, space and cooling needed by internal data centers. Private Cloud need not be a Tier 1 Facility as it does not store Confidential Client Data. Internal data centers free up space for applications requiring Tier 1 storage, security, and data back-up functionality. Innovate technology refresh replacement at no additional cost (yielding Save of $845K).

Led Vendor Performance weekly meetings with Private Cloud vendors and the Grid team to ensure contract SLAs and related project tasks were prioritized to meet Client schedule requirements.

Server Maintenance – Create RFP, negotiate, and draft contract for the outsourcing of hardware maintenance services for Intel, AMD, and Solaris servers in the US Campus and regional data centers. Contract awarded to a third party hardware maintenance vendor to eliminate higher cost charged by the respective OEMs. Managed functional team for development of KPIs and SLAs. Resulted in material reduction of price and superior performance SLAs. Innovate pricing methodology based on Call Volume, instead of standard inventory pricing.

Distributed Hardware Services:

Site Support - Lead negotiator for multi-disciplinary team for a $92M competitively bid deal for the outsourcing of deskside support and hardware break/fix services for variety of data and network equipment at the US Campus and retail brokerage branches. Redesign operations model for services, remove need for multiple touch points by many vendors, improving user experience. Over 3 years, this deal reduces existing expenditures with the incumbent service provider by $24M.

International Retail Brokerage Branches – Consolidate multiple local vendor hardware maintenance services into a unified global vendor contract with reduced cost, improved standardized SLAs, and central reporting capability. Structure billing in-country in local currency to maximize recapture of VAT. Establish monthly vendor governance meetings with relevant operational teams and vendor as vehicle for SLA reporting and ensuring contract compliance.

Process Enhancements:

Tax Education - Research tax concerns impacting procurement transactions with Global Tax Group. Draft and present findings to Sourcing group in a training session resulting in new standard contract template language to maximize tax waiver opportunities, delineating software support from software updates to achieve tax savings, and maximizing re-claiming of VAT by using in-country legal entities. Achieved a Temporary Storage Tax Exemption (valued at $1M) from Illinois, enabling our use of a central vendor site for staging of PC and servers for technology rollout to the retail branches.

E-Sourcing - Participated in task force to collect user requirements, communicate them to system support, and beta test resulting changes to Frictionless. Used Ariba tool as contract repository for relevant documentation.
