Kentucky Plant Manager 2011 – January 2016

Managed privately held synthetic rubber manufacturing facility with 120 employees, 3 skilled craft / maintenance unions and 1 production union. Supervised 1 non-exempt administrative assistant and 6 department managers / engineers and safety manager. Oversaw all phases of 2 synthetic rubber manufacturing product lines that included 5 drying operations and 1 latex shipment process, management of $24M base cost budget and approximately $4M capital spending budget.

Implemented key safety trainings for fatigue management, hydration, injury case management, and ergonomics that brought 80% reduction in OSHA recordable injuries over 3 years. Implemented plant- wide usage of Flame Retardant uniforms for compliance with combustible dust standard, arc flash protection and flammable raw materials.

Developed waste reduction guidelines for campaigns of products that reduced non-prime approximately 2% over 3 years, delivering annual savings of $600K and an additional 900K pounds of prime product for sales.

Served as key leader on plant negotiating labor team (2015 & 2012) that created off-shift flexibility for maintenance staffing (2015) and unanimous ratification of 12-hour shift structure (2012). Implementation of 12-hour shift structure in 2012 was key driver for reducing forced overtime, minimizing fatigue related injuries, and increased quality of finished product.

Coached department managers to develop continuous improvements in contamination reduction measures, change of product procedures, and comprehensive product recipe reviews utilizing OSI-Pi historian that net a 50% reduction in customer complaints.

Developed quarterly department pay for performance metrics and personal employee performance reviews for union employees separate from contractual wage increases as method for incentivizing and rewarding individual contribution.

Oversaw plant expansion for acrylic co-monomer manufacturing with addition of second batch reactor in 2013.

Kentucky Plant Dryer Production Manager 2008 - 2011 Led 33 wage employees and 5 professional supervisory / engineering staff in Finishing Department that consisted of 4 manufacturing lines, including 2 spray dryers and 2 Proctor / Wolverine band dryers. Managed personnel and daily operation, including preventative and non-routine maintenance in scheduling of 4 manufacturing lines that produced approximately 160K pounds per day.

Implemented strategic product transfer initiatives ensuring quality and accurate conversion of synthetic rubber products across two manufacturing lines.

Oversaw implementation of cross contamination reduction programs as part of product transfer, ensuring minimization of customer complaints.

Maintained ISO 9000 compliance for facility by developing yearly internal audit schedule and ensuring quality control of documentation, including recipes, procedures, raw material and finished packaging specifications.

Conducted monthly quality meetings between necessary functions of the business, including marketing, research and development and production, ensuring total quality control along the supply chain.

Programmed nearly 80 products using Yokogawa Recipe Batch Management as part of Kentucky Plant automation and Distributed Control System implementation.

Conducted annual KY Plant hazard revalidations of the covered processes in the Kentucky plant, gathering necessary assortment of subject matter experts, operations personnel and maintenance employees.

Participated on ZCLP PSM audit teams in Texas, Mississippi and Kentucky manufacturing sites, ensuring each plant was in compliance with necessary OSHA 1910.119 requirements.

Led annual OSHA required trainings for KY Plant employees including Hearing Conservation, Confined Space, Hot Work and Lock Out Tag Out, ensuring necessary safety compliance.
