House Manager

community living inc. - Frederick County, MD - June 2012 to November 2012 Responsibilities

Myself and one staff member were reaponsible for four truly wonderful and unique women. We woke each indivdual, assisted with bathing, getting dressed, fixing their hair done, preparing breakfast, administering medications and documenting on MAR, making sure lunches and snacks were ready and getting individual off to work. Sometimes we had Dr. Appts. If not I would start laundry, make beds, get dinner started or laid out finish paperwork, vacum, dust. My girls got home around 4. Medication s were administered and documented on MAR. The girls and I would make a snack and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and I learned about their days. Then depending on the day and individual treatment goals we went for a walk through the community or went to the YMCA and go swimming, did our grocery, went out to eat, or went shopping often at goodwill and the dollear store, went by the liabrary, visited another group home, went to the main campus and participated in events,or we had company in our home. The girls enjoyed being in the kitchen and would make dinner. If dinner was cooked in a crock pot then the girls and I would often make something for dessert, I would administer and document medications. We spent our evenings working on treatment goals, i helped the girls get their laundry done while they were relaxing or watching tv I was getting my computer and paperwork done. One of my girls had compurt skills. She had a personalized laptop due to her disability her mouth never fully devoped and speech was a challenge for her. Because she had computer skills and was such a helpful kind of individual i trained her to do our maintenance requests. This seemed to give her confidence. Which she needed being new to the house and being the youngest member. Then around nine o'clock medications were administered and documented

And I helped the girls with their bathes their hair and into bed. Then my staff and I would start laundry clean kitchen and bathroom and pack lunches for the next day and finish paperwork. Accomplishments

I believe my girls enjoyed and personally benefitted from integration into the community, having the socialization, normalcy, independence, self esteem, confidence. Being independent and confident are two things I advocate for the disabled. My girls got out into the community they answered the phone when it rang and the door. They had their friends and family over. Decision's about what to eat and the responsibility of shopping and paying for it and putting it away. They knew where their food was and how to get to it when they wanted something. Taking care of their home by doing maintenance request. I was their employee a guest in their home. I wanted my girls to know that was their home and feel secure. I wanted them to be the women they were independent strong and confident. I think my accomplishments and impact was the community integration socialization independence confidence self esteem and security Skills Used
