SAMPLE PROJECTS

Parish Engineer, Parish of Ascension, Gonzales, LA

Provided guidance on development and site plan review for a growing community of 100,000+ residents to ensure proposed new developments used sound engineering design and met Parish requirements including drainage design, traffic control and traffic analysis; also ensured erosion controls met Parish and LADEQ standards. Additional responsibilities included coordination with the planning and public works and other departments, addressing residents’ concerns, attending the planning commission meetings. Also periodic site visits of projects under development and inspection of completed projects in the Parish were conducted to determine compliance with approved plans and Parish standards.

Project Civil Engineer, St. Bernard Parish, Chalmette Loop Levee, Caernarvon Structures Reach 149, New Orleans, LA

A project team was formed to design a part of the levee system protecting New Orleans. This project was designed for the HPO, and the New Orleans and St. Paul Districts of USACE. This levee completed this phase of the new levee system which ties into the MS river levee and included a sector gate, flood wall, rail road gate and a highway gate. My responsibilities included the civil designs for Norfolk-Southern railroad gate closure and Highway 39 gate closure including technical coordination. The project included a temporary detour of traffic for the construction of the highway gate, demolition of the old highway and rail road gates, a permanent access road for emergency vehicles to use when the highway gate was closed due to a hurricane and the design of the highway 39 improvements in the vicinity of the new gate. All work within the LADOTD ROW required coordination with and approval by LADOTD.

Civil Engineer, University Place, Memphis, TN

A project team was formed to develop a 60 acre project which was a collaboration between a private developer, Memphis Housing Authority and the City of Memphis and was part of a larger planned development to revitalize a large neighborhood in the city of Memphis. My responsibilities included roadway, sanitary sewer and storm sewer design; the design of a large storm water detention pond to serve the future development area and several smaller ponds which shall be linked; NPDES / NOI permitting and SWPPP development with submission to the TN Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).

Project Engineer, Section 205, Small Flood Control Study, Wynne, AR, Prepared for the USACE, Memphis District

The study addressed the flooding and three proposed flood control measures along Town Creek in Wynne, AR. Utilized the HEC-RAS program to develop flood profiles and establish cost benefit analysis for each of the three alternatives.

Project Engineer, Drainage Improvements for Autozone Park, Memphis, TN

This project was a design of a two million dollar drainage project to relieve flooding in the downtown of the City of Memphis. The project consisted of developing the drainage map and research to determine the cause of the flooding; Then designing a practical solution which consisted of both open cut trenches and of boring pipes under a busy downtown street. An important aspect of the project was to design the temporary traffic control to keep the traffic flowing during construction.

Civil Engineer, New Memphis NBA Arena, Memphis, TN

A team was formed to design and construct a NBA arena (FedEx Forum) in Downtown Memphis. I was responsible for civil site design including street design, traffic control, drainage analysis and design; NPDES / NOI permitting, wrote and submitted the SWPPP, sewer design and assistance with the coordination of all surrounding infrastructure including major utility relocations (water, gas, electric, sewer, and communications); also included the relocation of Linden Avenue which ran along the southern side of the site.

Project Manager, Somerville Bypass, Somerville, TN, Prepared for TDOT

The project was the construction of a 5.2 mile bypass of the community of Somerville, TN. My responsibilities included drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, construction cost estimation and the preparation of preliminary, and right-of-way plans for the proposed facility.
