INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
Graduate Engineer Industrial Trainee July 2013-Aug 2014
Pneumatic Power Tools & Co., Kolkata, INDIA
Created 3D models, assembly drawings, assembly drafting, component drawings of new pneumatic components using CATIA V5 and SolidWorks
Expertise in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and GD&T
Developed FE analysis models for pneumatic components using Hypermesh and Abaqus and interfaced with engineers to validate FEA models
Modified the catalogue product design as needed to fit the customer requirements on CATIA V5
Attended meetings with the clients to discuss the applications, usage and technical issues of the products
Engineering Intern Mar 2012-Apr 2013
Preetam Springs Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur, INDIA
Hands-on experience with tools and machines required for manufacturing leaf springs.
Learnt about the design and usability of leaf springs.
Designed the custom made leaf spring as required by customer on CATIA V5 and Unigraphics NX.
CATIA V5 Training projects:
Created 2D, 3D part drawings, assembly drawings and assembly drafting of many components which include radial engine, power steering pump, crankshaft mechanism, rocker arm assembly, disc brakes and gears.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Crashworthiness of vehicle- FMVSS 208 and NCAP tests:
Calculated the capacity of the vehicle structure to absorb crash energy in frontal crashes of vehicles tested by NHTSA – FMVSS 208 and NCAP. The primary aim of these tests is to assess potential occupant injury based on measurements with instrumented dummies using the software Signal Browser.
Frontal Crash Analysis using HIII dummy: Used LS-Dyna as a post-processor and Hypermesh as a pre-processor to simulate a frontal crash of a Chevy C2500 Pick-up truck to a rigid wall and central pole for NCAP speed tests using a HIII dummy.
Fatigue life of flip-chip: Worked as a project leader in a team to compare the fatigue life of solder balls in a flip-chip in completely filled and non-filled flip-chip packages by using Hypermesh and Abaqus solver
Spring-back effect in sheet metal:
The various parameters, such as sheet thickness, die radius and modulus of elasticity for two different materials are varied in order to achieve minimum spring-back effect. The simulation for the U-Bending process is done by FEA using softwares Hypermesh and Abaqus.
Stress analysis of geometry with crack: Compare the values of stress and displacement of a geometry with crack using analytical method and computational method. Designed the geometry in Unigraphics NX 7.5 and FE analysis was done in Hypermesh
3-point bending of a thin-walled beam:
Performed a FE analysis of a beam under 3-point loading system using Hypermesh to model, mesh and apply constraints and loads and LS-Prepost for the analysis and results.
Design Optimization: Optimizing the shape, size, topology of different components using Hypermesh, Optistruct and solidThinking Inspire which results in significant improvement in mass and waste reduction and helps reducing the overall manufacturing cost without hindering the strength or performance of the part
Inlet and outlet valves of the IC engine: Fabricated a wooden cam and a flat plate follower which opens the inlet/exhaust valve by a mechanical linkage to show the mechanical function of the inlet and exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine and mechanical structure was designed using CATIA V5.
Solar operated pneumatic vice and water operating system: Worked as a project leader to fabricate a system which utilizes solar energy in order to operate the pneumatic vice and water lifting system by storing the compressed air from a compressor in to a storage tank. Used AutoCAD for designing the basic structure
