PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Frontier Communications – (Customer)

Rochester, NY

09/2009 – Current

Act as a Managing Architect on the Frontier Communications Integration services projects. During this period of time Frontier has made a number of large acquisitions that have resulted in Frontier being the 5th largest telecom provider in the nation. Frontier has acquired most of another carrier’s landline and FIOS business. This resulted in too many projects to list supporting video, video on demand, games on demand, IP, Local Services (LSR), Access Services (ASR) processing, TiVo, DirectTV and DishTV, HughesNet Satellite Internet and many new connected home initiatives. The following section identifies a number of key projects where I successfully designed and led the delivery of major functionality under very aggressive timelines with the highest visibility. In the interest of not taking too much of your time I have limited the projects info to the last 5 or so years.

Wholesale ASR & TT Implementation projects – 09/2009 to 09/2011

Managing Architect for a long list of projects focused on the delivery of Wholesale products including support for ASR, LSR and TroubleTicketing. My team was a blended team with local contractors along with IBM Global services augmentation onsite and in India. This was one of the largest projects underway and since ASR and LSR processing is so regulated and all carriers update to the latest ASOG xml schema standards at the same time, we had no opportunity to miss any deliverable targets. The team worked very cohesively despite the timezone challenges. And we were able to implement full flows including Synchronoss virtual front office through the ESB into Metasolve 6. We also designed and implemented the Trouble Ticketing flows into M6 and our DPI billing system these projects were delivered on time and in budget. My specific responsibilities included:

Designed and developed support for the acquisition of additional States of land-line and FIOS business

Designed how the ASOG schemas are tied into and represented in the Frontier Common model.

Designed the flows for all ASOG processes

Designed and developed the actual mediations and mappings for all flows and designed and led the developer who did the WPS coding for the service frameworks.

Worked with the M6 designers to help them consume the ESB contracts and produce their own provider interfaces

Designed the integration of the tML (ticket markup language) xml schemas for processing trouble tickets. This included tickets created in the CRM as well as those sent in eBonded from carriers.

This overall effort included too many projects to list, all delivered on time and with the least defects of any other application teams.

Transformation projects – 09/2011 to 12/2013

This initiative was focused on transforming Frontiers OSS/BSS systems to support more commercial sales capabilities along with all the supporting functions. We also delivered integration with HughesNet Satellite to provide sales and support to rural customers who would otherwise not have access to internet. And last but not least we also designed and developed sales and support for Small business customers and Prospect and Quote management. During this effort my role was as Managing Architect where I led a team of service integrators comprised of full time employees and local and remote consultants (some resources were offshore). Again we were able to continue to deliver business as usual projects along with Transformation-specific projects on time and within budget. My specific responsibilities included:

Added support for 13 more states (new acquisitions) of landline and FIOS business

I designed and developed the group ordering capability for small business

Design and development to integrate with Sterling 9 for commercial sales.

Design and development of additional FIOS capabilities

Design and development of integration with DirectTv to provide satellite sales and support

Designed and led the development of Prospect and Quote management.

I designed and developed parts of the HughesNet Satellite integration to allow customers to purchase and provision high speed satellite internet.

I designed and led a team of developers on the implementation of a new Dish satellite TV, where we provided more Dish products and services and tighter direct integration with Dish during ordering and provisioning.

This overall effort included too many projects to list, all delivered on time and with the least defects of any other application teams.

Refinement projects – 01/2014 to 03/2015

Acted as Managing Architect and lead for the implementation of new internet of things products as well as a large number of “gap” projects focused on continuing to enhance the work done in Wholesale and Transformation projects. Again I led a team of integration service designers and developers. During this effort the ESB group was working on the design and implementation of a new version of the ESB built on IBM BPM v8 with a focus on moving off of the older IBM WPS v6 and DataXtendSI tools. During this phase I worked on both teams, I was consultative to the new ESB team and had full time delivery responsibility to the projects team where we focused on the delivery of new function and those gap projects. My specific responsibilities included:

Responsible for the design and implementation with the replacement of our trouble ticketing in Metasolv6 with Remedy.

Design and development for the new Frontier Partner Portal

Design and development for the new Tech Portal and SIMPL (tech handheld device)

Designed and developed support for SMB customer premise equipment

Design and development for a new set of Dish and HughesNet API’s

Design and development for FSecure (pc security management) and Content Anywhere (Cloud storage)

SME, consultation on all aspects of redesigning the existing WPS integration services to adhere to the IBM TelcoPack running on BPMv8. Spent a lot of time working with the architects to make sure that all functions supported in WPS were being supported in BPM and that the designs and interaction patterns were equivalent, so we could certify and achieve consumer adoption and migration. The reason for the migration is the IBM WPS product is out of support.

This overall effort included too many projects to list, all delivered on time and with the least defects of any other application teams.

Frontier Communications – 04/2015 to Current

Architect, enterprise data model governor and designer for a project to upgrade the current BPM8 based ESB to a new TIBCO ESB using IID for modelling our new Enterprise Data (common) Model. We’re also using Contivo to perform the integration transformations and mappings. This effort is targeted for a Dec release and we are already working on integrating a variety of new CRM applications use two Product Catalogs (Sigma/Tribold and Sterling(7&9), Remedy Trouble Ticking, and back-end Billing. Specific responsibilities included:

As an ESB and Frontier systems SME, act as one of the leads (I’m one of three and the only consultant) in designing the new ESB platform in terms of all the services, data model and interfaces. I’m focused on creating a more granular level of services to enable more development agility and independence as well as the ability to use these granular services in orchestrations and composite services.

Act as the enterprise data model (Common data model) Designer and governor, in this role there is a team of modelers working on interfaces and it’s my job to make sure that we have a common model that represents the business data and that the specific service interfaces are appropriately modelled (taking advantage of reuse and making sure the services are easily consumed and as self-describing as possible).

As a senior resource, I am tasked to lead, mentor and assist the team with all facets of services-based integration design and implementation. And since I’ve been with Frontier so long, I am also seen as an SME for most of the Providers we work with as well as the applications using the integration services. In this capacity I also work with requirements analyst to define and design new projects.

In addition to the New ESB project I also led the design and development of support for TiVo OTA (over the air TiVo offering) product, connected home Nest products, Testboard automation, Dish integration for Aggregators, upgrades to the HughesNet services and automation for ordering complex commercial products.

Diversified Technology Solutions – (Principal/Partner)

Indianapolis, In

06/2003 – Current

I am a partner and principal in the design and development of an algorithmic trading platform. We also provide IT support to Wellington Financial Group who use our trading platform. I am the designer, developer and support provider of the trading platform. The trading platform is based on the use of real-time data feeds from Interactive Broker and DTN’s IQFeed. The tool provides automated trade execution based on the detection of micro-momentum indicators using TD Ameritrade and Interactive Brokers custom API’s. The tool is focused on trading within very tight variances. Order management is carried out by integration with the IB Trader Workstation. The trading tool forms the basis of the day-trading for two of Wellington Financials Private Equity funds. The trading platform is a standalone desktop VB forms application. To round out the offering I also created a back-testing facility to test trade algorithms and parameters on historical data.

Pantheon Consulting, Inc. – (My Company/Employer)

St. Petersburg, Florida

06/2002 – Current

Act as president and Principal Consultant for my company, Pantheon Consulting, performing Applications and large-scale Enterprise Architecture design/implementation, Integration and consulting. My latest customers include Frontier communications, Kemper Unitrin, Bell Atlantic, Wachovia and JM Family Enterprises.

At Wachovia I did two projects, one was to review and audit the current implementation of the Money Transfer System (MTS) application migration project. This initiative aimed to migrate from an older implementation of the system to a newer version of the software running on AIX. The outdated Global Funds transfer system has been discontinued and there were performance problems with the current implementation. My role was to review the implementation including design, infrastructure and configuration to assure the performance and stability issues are not carried from the old system to the new one and to ensure the new infrastructure has enough capacity and redundancy. I also worked on an effort to extend the functional life of the production MTS system by providing performance processing relief. I accomplished this project by working through systems tuning and by providing some custom coded alternative processing modules.

I performed an engagement at JM Family Enterprises (JMFE) to provide continuity for a Data Center consolidation and outsourcing project, provided Websphere MQ mentoring for a new WMQ administrator, did an infrastructure audit to ensure proper design and implementation of JMFE’s middleware infrastructure and lastly I consulted to the JMFE applications architecture and development group on the proper use of messaging in the new systems design and development.

At Eckerd did an Enterprise Infrastructure audit focusing on the enterprise-wide messaging layer. As part of this engagement I audited the messaging nodes for installation, configuration, tuning and operational components of the application system to identify problems and make resolutions before the system is ready to go into production. This infrastructure supports a 1.5 million message a day workload of all Eckerd store Insurance claims queries and claims that are sent to the back-end legacy processing platform.

Kemper a Unitrin Company – (Customer)

Jacksonville, FL

7/2008-9/2009

Act as Solution/SOA/Integration Architect and Technical lead on the Policy Output Project. The overall goal is to open and extend the legacy-based policy management systems (CICS/IMS) to a new service oriented architecture. The challenge is to create an architecture where new next-generation service consumers receive these documents in a natural ACORD (a standards-based common XML messaging standard for exchanging insurance data) form. We have completed the solution design and a reference architecture implementation to test the design and to build out the structure and frameworks. We have now completed the production implementation of the Auto Line of business and are under development with the Home line of business.. The target platform includes Cobol/CICS/IMS and IBM WMQ (on Mainframe), Progress Software SonicMq, SonicESB and DataeXtendSI on Windows Servers). The customer is now self-reliant and I am providing consulting support for the Home-side development.

Frontier Communications – (Customer)

Rochester, NY

09/2007 – 07/2008

Act as an Integration Architect and Subject Matter Expert on the Frontier/Citizen Communications ESB project. We have completed the design/development and production implementation of an enterprise service bus for Frontier Communications. We implemented the ESB using Websphere Process Server and Data Extend Semantic Integrator. We used the TMF SID Common model, eTOM business processes and SOA standards to build a new services based CRM application that interfaces with the back-end OSS/BSS systems. This work completed the realization of a new services based infrastructure at Frontier. My role is as services designer/architect and integration SME.

Price, Waterhouse, Coopers – (Customer)

Tampa, Fl

06/2007 – 9/2007

Acted as Architect, Development Lead and SME for the AWS project at Price, Waterhouse, Coopers, Inc. We designed and implemented an internal auditor workspace product that provides many advanced features and include challenges such as using business process re-engineering, a new technology platform, making use of an off-shore build team and integration with new and legacy back-end systems. My role is to act as the onshore leader for a build team and providing thought leadership around integration and services. Unfortunately this project was cancelled.

Cerebit Security Systems, Inc. – (Employer)

Tampa, Florida

03/2005 – 06/2007

Acted as an Integration Architect and Subject Matter Expert on the Frontier/Citizen Communications ESB project. We completed the implementation of an enterprise service bus for Frontier Communications. This initial project is to create a highly available, extensible integration infrastructure to act as the foundation for all future development. We are implementing this foundation using Websphere Process Server and Pantero. This infrastructure adheres to the TMF SID Common model, eTOM business processes and SOA standards. The initial phases were focused on creating the integration architecture to enable the implementation of a new CRM application that interfaces with several back-end OSS/BSS systems. This was the first of many phases in this project to provide a standards-based catalyst for systems renovation and modernization.

As an Onsite Infrastructure and Integration architect I completed an implementation a very large BellSouth ESB project to provide more operational control and flexibility going forward. This project involved working with the customer to develop an architecture, strategy and roadmap for implementing an SOA using an advanced ESB. My role was the design and implementation of the Enterprise Services Bus for BellSouth using IBM Middleware (WMQ, WBIMB, Datapower) and various application platforms (.Net, J2EE and legacy application access frameworks and integration). This included the creation of adapters for the legacy applications running in CICS, IMS, Siebel CRM and Biztalk. The goal of this project was to provide a common integrated platform so that all lines of business have open integrated services based interfaces.

Also as part of this role I defined the project delivery processes and methods and managed the ESB implementation projects at the customer site from prototype to project completion. I architected, designed and prototyped the high availability, mission critical enterprise service bus architecture including the core bus functions (transaction logging, intelligent routing, transformation and data enrichment) and worked with the teams to develop the ESB Application access framework. This design includes the use of the IBM Websphere Advanced ESB software suite. The core of the bus functions were built using the WMQ & WBI Message Broker, where we designed and implemented complex message flows to provide service lookups, advanced routing, logging, event services, legacy and non-legacy transformation and Soap processing. This highly secure, highly available, high performance advanced implementation now handles over 2000 roundtrip service transactions per second. Getting this kind performance and stability took direct collaboration and interfacing with the IBM software lab.

Provided PM4Data customer consulting to a major retail grocery chain to help them to resolve production issues and extend their current implementation to include deployments to their large store network. This role afforded me the opportunity to get back up to speed on MetaStorm PM4Data and to apply it in a challenging high volume retail environment and to integrate state of the art data integration into the enterprise service bus..

Cordys, Inc. – (Employer)

Putten, Netherlands

06/2004 – 3/2005

Act as Services Manager, Project Manager and Technical Solutions Architect for Cordys. I manage the services relationship for key customer accounts for Cordys. Cordys is a new company with a new application platform suite called Business Collaboration Platform (BCP). Cordys has several other functional applications including a quality manager, service manager, catalog manager and an education delivery package. The BCP is the flagship product that was built from the ground up using and providing the infrastructure for web services. The product provides a tightly integrated set of facilities that together form the framework for an enterprise Services Oriented Architecture (SOA)and an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The BCP also provides the facilities necessary to implement real applications using business process management and the integration capabilities needed to include legacy applications in your designs, resulting in not only new systems but provides the ability to extend the life of legacy applications by creating new meta or composite applications.

As part of this role I am charged to define and solidify internal project delivery processes and methods and manage BCP implementation projects at customer sites from the prototype or Proof of concept stage to project completion. I am also responsible for customer relationship management for key accounts like Webex, EE Newcomer and Kullicke and Soffa. I have projects at these customers in various stages of completion. I have full responsibility for the success of the project delivery. I typically manage 1- 12 technical resources in the delivery of the project with the majority of these resources being located in India (at our remote development site).

I am additionally tasked to provide technical sales support and consulting to the development and implementation teams to define and build a solution architecture to provide the highest level of service to meet the customer’s most stringent production requirements.

Nielsen Media Research Inc. – (Customer)

Dunedin, Florida

09/2002 – 06/2003

Perform as an Enterprise Application Integration architect focused on the development of infrastructure to support an enterprise-wide Mainframe to J2EE Information systems re-engineering effort. I developed the strategy, infrastructure and Enterprise Architecture Artifacts for enterprise-wide integration. My focus was to build the framework to facilitate technology and product selection as well as the custom integration infrastructure development to provide mainframe to J2EE applications integration. This involved actually performing product and technology searches and comparative analysis to determine the right products to support the technical strategies. I also had several vendors onsite to discuss their offerings and strategies to build a comprehensive best-fit strategy. This role was very challenging in that the source information systems are Assembler and PLI and most date 20-30 years and the move is towards the very latest J2EE technologies. I supported the effort of a 20+ member development team (Architectural build phase 1) for cross-platform & mainframe technology and development. I also evaluated and specified Applications and knowledge mining toolsets and services to aid in the legacy transformation and to understand, document, and to build the integration points for the migration to the new application platform. The integration platform that I built provides a means for legacy applications to be re-engineered to run as component-based J2EE services. Nielsen will leverage it’s existing batch operational infrastructure to drive batch processing by replacing one or more steps with a call to an integration requestor that makes a service call to the exposed (reengineered legacy application) service.

I lead a team to rapidly develop custom prototypes of integration solutions using C, PL1, J2EE/Java (Jax-M, JMS, Message driven beans and Session beans), MQSeries, Sunopsis, and other products.

Worked with a team of 7 Enterprise Architects to derive the minimal set of UML artifacts necessary to properly architect, design and build the new application. We used Class diagrams, state diagrams, activity diagrams, use cases, sequence diagrams, deployment diagrams as well as several database models to describe the current and new architecture. These models were stored in TogetherSoft and the development environment was Sunone/eclipse on NT/Unix for server apps and Mainframe library system for PLI & Assembler applications. Our applications server was Weblogic and Weblogic integration servers.

I defined the positioning of CPI within the CommerceQuest product roadmap and worked with other departments to identify opportunities to leverage existing product sets and service offerings to enrich my customer’s value proposition.

I worked with marketing to develop and implement the product marketing plans. I also conducted product surveys of competitor products to define our market strategy and to create competitive comparison materials for our sales force. This allowed our sales force to be much crisper during sales calls directly resulting in more sales interest and activity. I worked with our consulting services group to develop and deliver training for our consultants so that we were able to sell CPI as part of a total solutions package and to ensure proper skill-levels and successful
