Summary

I have approximately five months experience as a “grosser”/histotechnologist at Laboratory Corporation of America. The job entailed processing biopsy samples including sectioning, inking, measuring and describing the samples to gynecological and dermatological pathologists. The job required knowledge and skills in orienting samples, human physiology, and regular experience with LabCorp’s database.

I have a modicum of experience with SDS-PAGE. I also have basic experience in the lab in a classroom setting with basic primary cell culture and cell lines, including isolation and trypsin EDTA culture. I know the IACUC standards for laboratory maintenance and sacrifice of mice. At WCSU, I also practiced ELISA and I applied other immunological assay techniques in a classroom laboratory setting.

I completed senior research on water pollution, requiring skills in indole tests, X-GAL and B-GAL immunofluorescence tests for fecal coliforms, and various chemical tests for, sulfides, nitrates, ammonia, copper and other heavy metals, and phosphates by way of micropipetting.
