SUMMARY:

A highly dedicated and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer with practical experience with mechanical design and finite element analysis, and familiar with DOE, IoT and control & dynamics. EDUCATION

Mechanical Engineering (M.S.), University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA GPA: 3.97/4.0 2014.8 – 2016.5 Mechanical Engineering (B.S.), Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, China GPA: 3.65/4.0 2009.9 – 2013.6 WORK EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineer Intern, State Key Lab of Advanced Design and Manufacturing for Vehicle, China 10.2013-03.2014

• Tested a bus chassis under the realistic condition and then simulated it using Hyperworks to examine the bending and torsinal fatigue of the chassis.

• Simulated models of the front parts of different heavy duty trucks in the wind channel test using CATIA and FLUENT to examine the wind resistance of those trucks.

• Designed and implemented experiments to test vibration in a truck door. The results are already applied by the company to optimize the structure of the door.

Mechanical Engineer Intern, Graduation Intern, Wuhan, China 12.2012-06.2013

• Designed and modeled the overall layout of a CNC machine tool. Arranged the positions of different essential parts, including the main spindle, stage, slide carriage and ram.

• Designed and built main spindle system and its accessory according to the specific engineering requirements.

• Excellent graduation design in the school of mechanical engineering. ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Designer, ISE 511L Course project, USC, CA 03.2016-05.2016

• Implemented a dissection experiment of an optical mouse to acquire the work principle of different hardware.

• Designed a linear motion system to apply motor control and feedback control.

• Developed a user interface (UI) in Python to input different music staff and select required time signature by the staff.

• Designed a mechatronic system controlled by Arduino to play a chimalong, an instrument, according to the input staff. Structure Analyst, CE 529a Course project, USC, CA 08.2015-12.2015

• Established a finite element model that each element has 4 nodes and 24 degrees-of-freedom in theory.

• Analyzed 1/8 part of an intersection pipe under different load (including force, pressure, thermal load) using ABAQUS.

• Programmed in MATLAB to apply finite element analysis on the same part under the same conditions. The difference between the results from MATLAB and ABAQUS is within 5%. Mechanical Analyst, AME 521 Course project, USC, CA 08.2015-12.2015

• Established a 5 degrees-of-freedom model to simulate a transverse vibration problem of a car moving on the road.

• Established a moving rigid body coupled to a flexible beam by two springs to simulate the transverse vibration problem of a car moving on a bridge.

• Programmed in MATLAB to analyze the dynamic response of two systems for further vibration suppression control. Mechanical Designer, AME 408 Course project, USC, CA 08.2015-12.2015

• Designed and analyzed 1/8 part of a repeatable centrifugal governor by using SolidWorks for different size conditions to find the relation between stresses, contacts, structure and dimensions.

• Adjusted the dimensions and optimized the structure of the model in order to achieve the part with maximum long and wide size and minimum stresses and deformations.

SKILLS

CAD & FEA Software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/E, CATIA, ABAQUS, COSMOSWorks, ANSYS. Other Skills: MATLAB, C/C++, Simulink, Arduino, Office. Languages: Native speaker of Mandarin, Fluent in English.
