Professional Experience
Dungeon Studios, Inc. 2009 – Present
Commercial Photographer
Shooting people, places or things, I make even the mundane look magnificent; and with over 20 years’ experience – guaranteed to succeed! From pre-production to print (or Web) I do it all!
Lifetime Brands, Inc. 1997-2009 Director of Photography
Produced upwards of 25,000 images for advertising and packaging, propelling Lifetime Brands from a modest, privately held Housewares Company with annual revenue of less than $20 million to a Big-Board Corporation with annual revenue of over $1billion.
The image is the product. The image is what sells. My innovative images represented and sold many familiar brands, including Kitchen Aid, Farberware, Cuisinart, Hoffritz, Pfaltzgraff, Sasaki, Pedrini, Mikasa and Sabatier.
Managed day-to-day operations of a busy commercial photography studio, including scheduling, workflow management, logistics and budget.
Cross-departmental participation and input with creative staff, sales and marketing divisions. Created strategic time and money-saving systems, such as a “Triage System” for market-driven emergencies and deadlines and a “Sample Standards System” as clearing-house to save on-site and post-production time.
Collaborated closely and regularly with the Art director, from concept to post- production – distilling the full story into a single “frame of film.”
Produced, scripted and directed point-of-purchase videos for Farberware,
Hoffritz and Roshco, as well as investor promotional videos.
Hired and supervised ancillary talent as needed, while optimizing in-house resources. Solutions included condensing work schedules and overcoming emergencies through prudent foresight and planning.
Worked directly with buyers:
Example – realizing the vision: Walmart was interested in a new pantry ware line, which must look “rich, elegant and upscale.” Since the guidelines were so vague - I got directly in contact with the buyer, and quickly deduced Walmart’s needs. I came up with a concept; shot sample images that they enthusiastically approved. I then shot the rest of the line with my newly created style guide. This resulted in a multi-million dollar initial sale.
Example – Developing a concept: when collaborating closely with Master Chef and national restaurateur Daniel Boulud. The DBK designer line of accessories and spices was created while working closely with Daniel and his staff at their Manhattan location.
