Taught English at the low-intermediate level to immigrant parents. Responsibilities included: adapting and augmenting context-based,
CUNY-approved curricula in response to needs-analyses & initial assessments; using technology (the SMART Board, a computer lab, a listening lab) to heighten student engagement; guiding differentiated cooperative learning groups through completing project-based assignments; develop course outline; participate in annual program fairs; attend up to 15 hours of professional development. Additionally, helped students prepare for parent-teacher conferences and other meetings. This involved delivering targeted instruction in context-related vocabulary; guiding creation /rehearsal of role play scenarios and showing students how to access relevant data from the DOE website.

Teach ESL certificate and for-credit classes for all proficiency levels. Teach classes in: academic reading and writing, speaking and listening skills, grammar, and interpersonal communications. I. Barron’s Educational Series
Freelance Manuscript Reviewer
Hauppauge, NY; 2006-Present
Reviewed and made detailed recommendations for updated editions of Barron’s texts on the: TOEIC test, the TOEFL bit Test, and the IELTS test. Also worked on Barron’s English Grammar Made Easy as well as various texts about improving pronunciation.
Additionally, wrote reader reports with suggestions for the publisher’s Graphics Classics series. Worked on adaptations of: Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights; Gulliver’s Travels, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Hamlet; Macbeth; and Great Expectations.
