ACADEMIC PROJECT PROFILE
Intrusion Detection Using Snort
Technical Tools and Environment: Snort and Oinkmaster
oStudied three main modes of operations including sniffer mode, the packet logger mode and the network intrusion detection mode
oProcessed the stream of data and reassemble it before it went into detection engine using preprocessor for detection of invading the IDS.
Control Application for Software Defined Netork :
Technical Tools and Environment: Mininet 2.0, Wireshark, Beacon
oImplemented a control application for a software defined network (SDN) where SDN application installed rules in SDN switches to forward each flow along the shortest, valid path through the network.
oMininet was used to emulate a variety of network topologies consisting of OpenFlow switches and end-hosts.
Investigation of Behavior of TCP and SSL:
Technical Tools and Environment: Wireshark
oInvestigated the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, focusing on the SSL records sent over a TCP connection.
oAnalyzed the trace of the SSL records sent between host and an e-commerce server. Also various SSL record types as well as the fields in the SSL messages are investigated.
oCaptured and analyzed a trace of the TCP segments sent and received in transferring a 150KB file to a remote server.
Remotely Controlled Smart House:
Technical Tools and Environment: Java, Arduino Software (IDE)
oImplementation of Smart house by controlling devices at home remotely to get an alert on intrusion or change in temperature where devices were controlled by a mobile phone for receiving SMS mentioning the activity occurring around house.
oThis system is limited to the availability of the GSM network as the GSM network is responsible for communication between the mobile station and the GPRS module.
Wireless Robotic Arm for Warehouse:
Technical Tools and Environment: MPLab7.3, Lasr mapping and Navigation Software
oThis project was aimed to build an autonomous robot with RFID application which integrates RFID reader and PIC microcontroller as the main components.
oThe movement control comprises servo-motor with infrared sensors for the line follower.
oThe robot has the ability to identify the items by reading the tag on the items along with pick up the item and navigate to prescribed destination using line follower module to store the item at the appropriate place and location.
Modelling Human-building interaction in Energy Efficient Building:
Technical Tools and Environment: Anylogic, Eclipse, Arduino Software(IDE)
oThe main objectives were decoding the determinants of energy waste at the interface of occupant- building appliances interaction using agent based modelling and overcome the restraint of current energy modelling software resulting into more precise energy prediction during the design phase of building.
