Scope of Activities

o To monitor and advise the company regarding the compliance toward the occupational safety and health Act 1994 and its subsequent regulations; o To monitor and advise the company regarding compliance toward the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 and the relevant regulations and rules, with regard to safety and health at work;

o To monitor the compliance of company employees toward the occupational safety and health Act 1994 and its subsequent regulations, and also the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 and the relevant regulation and rules, with regard to safety and health at work.

o Issuing the correct and suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ) to the employees and to keep record of PPE issued.

Responsibilities

To assist Safety & Health Officer and Acting Executive : o Promote the safety awareness/ consciousness to all level of company employees irrespectively of their position in their respective department/sections. o Represent Safety & Health Officer, in the Divisional and Department safety meeting (Chaired by DCEO ).

o Advise and assist the Management and the various safety and health committee in Occupational Safety and Health matters;

o To report to DOSH all reportable incident/accident at workplace. o Conducting and to ensure that the monthly safety audits inspection to all department are carried out accordingly.

Programmes and Schedule

Routine : Day to day safety inspection in the mill area to spot/identify unsafe act and condition / Engineering hazards.

: Conducting accident investigation and compile the accident report.

: Issuing Personal Protective Equipment and stock keeping.

: Briefing newly recruited personnel’s, contractors and visitors on company safety rules and regulation, procedures on safe work system and mandatory requirement of state/ statutory legislation.

: To carry out site inspection on the permits work system and to ensure its applied prior to start any maintenance hot works at workplace.

Monthly : To represent safety section in the various Departmental safety meeting and other operational meeting in relation to safety and health matters.

: Conducting in-house General Plant Safety Training and Fire Fighting Training for internal employees (Pulp & Paper, Forestry and ITC Ply mill/ Sawmill division) schedule every two months.
