Senior Analyst/Programmer - (Analyst/Programmer) - 1994 – 1998

The major Accomplishments achieved while at HHMI were to maintain the Sterling Commerce GENTRAN Electronic Data Interchanges (EDI) System. I was responsible for GENTRAN System installation upgrades on a Windows Base Client Server once a year. Supported a total of 16 online Vendors for Account Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL) and Purchase Order (PO) to ensure the data were prepared and available for the 2 p.m. preprocessing for nightly PeopleSoft production each week and even holidays. Over 13 years I had the opportunity to refine the entire process to perform without any intervention from the technical staff and improved data through put up to 95% daily. The other 5% were vendor errors from AP and Purchase Order Status (POA) that were held until midnight for a correction routine program to fix common errors for the next day processing. I used within GENTRAN Subsystem it program code for all EDI Inbound and Outbound transactions based on EDI X12 Standard Code. Lastly, I worked closely with HHMI user departments to establish each EDI vendor setup and testing prior to moving each vendor into the production environment. Accounts Payable, PO, General Ledger and Asset Management Transactions were processed through the GENTRAN System to support the core of HHMI daily financial activities.

From the above accomplished activities, I was recommended to take on the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) System another financial system that was critical to weekly vendor payments. Again I refined the process to limit the down time that would prevent the funds from reaching the bank by 4 p.m. on each Thursday. To this day, the EFT processing still runs without any manual intervention.

Accomplishments achieved while at HHMI supported the Bluebird ODOC Imaging System maintaining a 99% up time for nine internal user departments such as the Accounts Payable, Purchasing, General Accounting, Budget Office, Finance, Internal Audit, General Counsel, Tax Compliance and Travel Office. In addition remote sites were also using the ODOC Imaging System which totals 400 users.

The ODOC Imaging System was linked into the PeopleSoft Financial System via Hyper Link code program to functioning within the online financial pages for Accounts Payable, General Accounting and Asset Management.

These were the key items that are noteworthy since I was employed at HHMI during my career. However there were other projects and other systems that I shared responsibility with other staff members.
