The Senior Fire Fighter is accountable to the Watch Commander for the effective management of emergencies ad to act as the officer-in –charge when the Watch Commander is not available. The SFF will promptly respond and take charge at incidents or sector/s of an operational incident as directed by the Watch Commander.

Works hand in hand with the NATO Coalition Forces Fire Department and UAE Air Force Fire Department.

General responsibilities include assisting the Watch Commander in the following:

Administrative functions such as leave programming, attendance management and recording.

Occupational health and safety accident reporting and other functions in accordance with the Company guidelines.

The SFF has the following responsibilities:

Reporting for duty as per the roster or as directed in a fit and proper state.

Ensure that adequate staff and vehicles are available in accordance with ERS instructions.

Ensuring personnel are trained sufficiently to allow effective intervention at emergencies for which the company is responsible.

Ensuring personnel do training in accordance with the Training program and maintain training records in accordance with the company instruction.

Recording operational information following emergency responses in accordance with the company requirements.

Supervising of firefighting personnel in daily activities, training, maintenance and operational duties expected to be performed at the fire station.

Ensuring day-to-day activities of fire crews are planned so as not to compromise service responses.

Ensuring firefighting personnel are equipped with personal protective equipment that is in a good state of repair.

Taking corrective action in the event that staffs are not fit for operational duty.

Operational maintenance and state of readiness of vehicles including foam, dry powder or other secondary agents.

Ensure all firefighting equipment is properly inspected, maintained and defects reported.

Report staff who fail to comply with their staff accountabilities to the Watch Commander

Act as directed by the Watch Commander.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND:

Born in Paco, Manila November 17, 1960.Has 4 children, 3 girls and a boy. Have been an airport firefighter for the last 21 years, and was recently promoted as crew chief/ leadsman last September 16, 2008.

A trustworthy person and can work with very minimal supervision. Have experienced different types of emergencies which involves several kinds of fire situations, namely Aviation Fire, Structural Fire, Electrical Fire, Kitchen Fire, Metal Fire and Flammable Liquid Fire.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS AS A FIRE CREW CHIEF / LEAD FIREFIGHTER:

Supervises the work / activities of personnel in a particular shift.

Takes charge of the firefighting operation at the scene of the fire during hour of duty

Initiates and recommends the adoption of fire prevention measures

Supervises and coordinate the training of new firefighters

Conduct regular inspections of personnel, equipment and supplies to ensure their radiness in event of emergencies
