PROJECT MANAGER, TROWBRIDGE & TROWBRIDGE LLC, CLIENT - DEPT OF LABOR(JOBCORPS PROGRAM) AUSTIN, TEXAS 2012-2015

The project SAAS involved re-writing of a legacy back-end Payroll System from a Java based application to a .NET C# application. The project involved integration with a front-end system. The project also involved a huge database conversion with millions of rows. The database used was Sybase and the code configuration management system was changed from StarTeam to Microsoft Team Foundation. The project used the Agile methodology. Role: Managed the project and worked with the software consultants to help them understand and capture the business requirements, worked with the developers (Java and C#) to identify business processes in the code and make code changes, worked with the Quality Control team in writing Test Cases and testing. Worked with the DBA to design the new payroll database, tables, triggers & procedures. Because of my vast experience with the DOL Jobcorps program for over 15 years, I was the only person in the company to handle the business needs, requirements and extensive knowledge of the system to handle critical customer service of technical issues. The project SPAMIS was a 20 year legacy payroll system that was converted to Java from Informix4GL in 2007. The project involved maintenance of a Nightly Java batch process converting transactions between the frontend and the backend payroll system. The day to day maintenance was maintaining the Payroll System for around 40,000 customers. The main processes were running payroll for 40K customers, electronic funds transfers every week, quarterly tax filing, survey data captures. The project used Waterfall methodology. The SPAMIS was a highly complex application with tax and payroll calculations.

Role: Managing the Payroll system day to day, taking care of Java application changes for internal and external customers. Supporting the Accountant and Payroll department to take care of EFTs, bank transactions and General Ledger. I had to manage the java programmers in the SPAMIS team and get them to make changes in the code. I also supervised a lot of training sessions with developers and business analysts and new hires.
