Senior Lean Manufacturing Engineer May 2014 – Present

I am responsible for identifying, scheduling, implementing and following up on process improvement activities throughout the company. I work closely with the management team to identify business processes that require improvement. I facilitate training sessions for employees to learn about and how to implement process improvement tools and techniques. I facilitate, participate and coach employees during rapid improvement events (kaizen). I have been involved in several major projects e.g. reduce downtime of production equipment, implemented SPC to monitor and improve product quality, development and implementation of metrics dashboards.

Senior Lean Six Sigma Consultant April 2010 – May 2014

I sub-contracted my time to client organizations or other consulting companies. My responsibility as a Senior Lean Six Sigma Consultant was to coach and support client companies through their lean transformation by facilitating employee training sessions and participating in rapid improvement events (kaizen) or completing specific improvement projects.

I have worked on lean improvement projects with Manufacturing, Healthcare and Service organizations. I am able to easily adapt my lean knowledge and experience to work with any type of organization.

Director of Lean Six Sigma Training & Development 2005 – 2010

MainStream GS, Cedar Rapids, IA

I maintained full responsibly for implementing and supporting the US Air Force’s Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) program (AFSO21). I worked with all levels of USAF personnel in the Air Mobility Command (AMC) to instruct and mentor them about the implementation of Lean principles and practices into USAF logistics. During this period, I received training at the University of Tennessee (UT) and was certified by the USAF as an AFSO21 Level 3 Facilitator (or Master Black Belt).

Here are two examples of successful lean transformation projects I worked on during this period:

1.I facilitated an improvement team at the David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA to reduce their 70+ orthopedic patient backlog to zero in 4 months with savings of $3.2 million per year.

2.I facilitated an aircraft maintenance team to reduce their standard service time for an aircraft from 10 days to 5 days.

Director of Operations 2002 – 2005

TEiM, Inc. Folsom, CA

TEiM is a lean training and consulting company. I maintained full responsibly of business improvement initiatives by meeting with clients to assess their specific needs and to develop a CPI implementation plan. I maintained full responsibly for the development and implementation of Continuous Process Improvement training programs, which incorporating tools such as Lean Principles, Six Sigma, etc. I developed the training using PowerPoint, video, and simulations, etc. I was involved in lean transformation projects working with teams on rapid improvement events (kaizen events).

An example of a successful lean transformation project was helping sports equipment manufacturer increase production output from 5 units per shift to 20 units per shift (300% increase).

Lean Project Manager 2000 - 2002

Mannex, Roseville, CA

Mannex is a non-profit organization and part of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program supporting lean transformation projects in small to medium-sized businesses throughout Northern California. I facilitated training seminars, kaizen events and coaching sessions for organizations wanting to improve their business practices using Lean Manufacturing Principles.

An example of a successful lean project was helping a Fabrication shop to reduce their order-entry process for new products from 10 days down to 48 hours. This gave them the ability to turn around more customers orders and improve revenue.

Operations Manager 1998 - 2000

APW, Grass Valley, CA

APW is a leading supplier of technical furniture and industrial solutions for the computer industry (including Dell, Apple, Celestica, Sun, Hewlett-Packard and Cisco) and Government contracts. I was responsible for the Production Scheduling, Manufacturing and Quality departments. APW developed a corporate lean implementation program. I was directly involved in developing employee training programs about Lean Principles. I participated in several kaizen events to improve business practices.

An example of a successful lean project was replacing a batch production process with cellular manufacturing. Inventory levels were reduced by 43% from $3.2M to $1. 8M.
