●I worked with alzheimers and dementia patients stages 3 and 4, we had 12 to 22 patients with 3 or 4 cnas and one lpn on the floor.

●I helped patients preform adls. I would get them up in the morning dress, bathe and bring them to breakfast. I would also help feed the patients, all with different dietary needs. Regular, finger, pureed, and mechanical diets. After each meal i would record on a flow sheet the percentages of how much each resident consumed. While feeding i would try to encourage the residents to eat as much as they can without force.

●We would toilet the residents every two hours or if they voiced the need to use the restroom. Afterwards recording on the flow sheet if they voided or had a BM, or whether they where incontinent.

●Some of the residents where ambulatory and others where non ambulatory. For non ambulatory patients we would use two person assist, hoyer lift, or easy stand. I would also do laundry for the scheduled residents and light houskeeping of their rooms.

●Another important aspect of the job was the interaction and activity times we would provide for the residents. I would do one on ones with some of them to get to know them and figure out what their needs and interests where. We would also do group activities. These activities and one on ones helped because it kept them ingaged and busy also it helped build a friendship and companionship with the patients which in return helped with communication and trust between me and the patient.
