MAJOR EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS

Applied Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) algorithm by using JAVA to compress JPEG images. The major steps are: Converting data from RGB to Y Cr Cb, Dividing the image into small blocks, applying DCT, quantify the data, zigzag scan and entropy coding. By choosing different standard of dividing and quantization, different results and compression ratio can be achieved.

Designed a prototype of Tank Game by using JAVA. The major skills are: Java drawing technology, Java Multi-Thread programming technology, Java Object-oriented programming.

Applied Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm by using C++ to minimize a complex polynomial. This program can let the user to enter parameters that they want to use, and display the results in a table.

Designed a Gaussian band-stop filter by using Matlab and adjust this filter to given lattices to filter the barber.tif image. The major steps are: determining the target frequencies, creating low pass filter, changing the low pass filter to specific filter (low pass filter, high pass filter, band pass filter). The flexibility of this program is great as it is also available to add more steps such as shifting center frequencies and adding more filters to achieve better performance
