Led a project with 400 drivers at Marathon Petroleum using a combination of Smith Driving, BBS, and leadership development, reducing incidents by 35%.

Implemented a safety process at Union Pacific Railroad that reduced injuries by 50%, derailments by 38%, and engineer decertifications by 70%, and lost work days by 40%. This contributed to the U.S. Department of Transpiration awarding Union Pacific the Distinguished Public Safety Award.

Employee Relations Manager 2001 - 2004

Hershey Foods Corp, Lancaster, PA

Led the 8 person Human Resources Department in a 700-employee non-union facility.

Implemented a transitional work process that enabled injured employees to be placed in outside employment resulting in a 70% reduction in light duty costs.

Researched, proposed, and implemented a behavior based safety process reducing injuries by 55% in the first year. Acted as the in-house sponsor, coaching and developing the employees responsible for the implementation.

Led the process documentation portion of the project to install the SAP human resource information system, converting from People Soft. The project was competed on time and within budget.

Director Employee Relations 1999 - 2001

Cadmus Professional Communications, Lancaster, PA

Managed the Human Resources department at a 400-employee union printing facility. Responsible for labor relations with three labor unions and employee relations for 100 salaried, exempt and non-exempt employees.

Negotiated all union labor agreements avoiding work stoppages and delivering contracts within objectives.

Gained agreement, through negotiations with unions, and installed a “no-fault” attendance process reducing absenteeism by 20%.

Led the effort to document all production processes in the facility. This initiative reduced training time, and allowed for more systematic problem solving process to be installed.
