Resume:

I am Than Cung Hnin, currently living in Battle Creek, MI. I am a refugee from Myanmar and I arrived

US in 2014. I was born and brought up in Chin State with is locate at the western part of Myanmar. Myanmar is located in South-East Asia, and is one of the poorest and corrupted countries in the world. It is composed of 14 states with different people with different cultures. Myanmar was ruled by military junta for more than thirty years. Chin State very hilly, and people earn their living by shifting hillside cultivation.

I did my high school in Hakha which is the capital city of Chin State. I went to Yangon as soon as I finished my high school for University. I graduated from Dagon University with Mathematics in 2006. Education in Myanmar is not as expensive as that of US. I went to South Korea in 2009, and graduate in 2011 with Master of Divinity.

I finished my bachelor degree in 2006. As soon as I finished my study, I was a teacher at Agape Children home, and began my interpreting career there. The agape children home was started by a local missionary, but run by USA missionaries. Many missionaries from different countries came to support the children with clothing, materials, and financially. I stayed there for three years there, and I went to South Korea for my further study.

During my study years in South Korea, I worked with Burmese refugees there. They are there without any assistance from the government. They need to go to immigration offices one time in six months, and I interpreted for them most of the time. I followed them to hospital, offices, and helped them in every aspect. In addition, I was an English teacher at Paul Church in Busan. In 2012, I went back to Myanmar, and I was Dean of Students at Myanmar Undergraduate School of Theology. There were a lot of foreigners came to MUST, and worked with them. I was a translator there as I speak both English and Korean. I really enjoyed the role of interpretation, and it really is a means to help others.

In 2014, I came to US, and currently living in Springfield, MI. Even after my arrival in USA, I also interpret for those who are not able to speak in English. I am able to help a lot of people because I can speak English, Burmese, Hakha Chin, Falam chin, Senthang Chin very well, and Mizo a little. I am sure I will be a great help if you offer me a chance to do so.
