Engineering Manager North American Operations (2008-present)

Manufacturing Engineer (2005-2008)

Managed entire relocation of the company into a new facility $150k under budget and three weeks ahead of schedule without interrupting production or delivery schedules.

Managed a $4 million addition of the manufacturing facility to consolidate operations and logistics into one facility, cutting annual shipping costs by over $500k/year.

Supervise all engineering activities for the complete product line of wheel balance weights including tooling and equipment design specifications and procurement, customer (Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan and Toyota) testing, initial production for PPAP and final product launch.

Successfully designed and launched new steel wheel weight product line with new capital equipment and tooling within budget and under a fast timeline. Working with quality on APQP, writing FMEA’s, and receiving PPAP approval.

Managed and installed an entire additional process of manufacturing steel wheel weights in the facility in China within budget and on time.

Supervise the CAD system and file sharing with OEM customers, internal file structure and revision control of ECN’s.

Awarded two patents from the USPTO, first one issued as US patent 9004611 and the second one issued as US patent 9228634, with both filed internationally in 13 different countries. Manage and reporting the IP attorney relations for the North American operations to executive level management.

Work with the production, quality, tool room and maintenance groups to improve quality, reduce scrap, increase OEE and cut operating costs. Manage a capital improvement budget of $3 to $5 million annually, justifying capital expenditures, managing timelines, and regular reports to executive management.

Manage and mentor staff of design and process engineers, engineering technician and a tool room staffed over three shifts, including goal setting and implementation as well as corrective actions. Participated in the implementation of Franklin Covey’s 4DX system, holding regular WIG sessions and weekly goal setting.

Engineering interface for North American OEM customers on product issues negotiating problem resolution and reporting to executive level management.

THUNDER HEART PERFORMANCE, White House, TN 2003-2005

Product Design Engineer

Mechanically designed, tested and implemented the product line to meet customer specifications, including drawings, bill of materials, prototypes, testing and production. Product line includes fuel pumps, intakes for fuel injection systems, forward controls, hand controls, air cleaner covers, electronic housings and brakes for custom v-twin motorcycles.

Interfaced with customers’ design and marketing departments to customize the product line for production requirements and model year roll out.

RTS WRIGHT INDUSTRIES, Nashville, TN 2000-2002

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanically designed a robotic work cell that loads and unloads truck wheels into a clad assembly machine, creating assembly and detail drawings, bill of materials and specifying purchase components for the project.

Project managed and designed multi-million dollar fabrication and assembly line for a small security strap for the trucking and shipping industry. Specified and purchased all equipment and tooling including stamping presses, dies, conveyors and pneumatic systems for the project.

Mechanical Engineer

Used AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop & Inventor to design two laboratory pasta extruders, one for stuffed rigatoni and one for basic pasta such as lasagna and shells at 250 lbs/hour.

Performed process related experiments in a laboratory setting, testing new processes for existing products in new market areas.
