Duties and responsibilities:

1.Receives, inspects, clean and pack instruments used in the hospital, a standard sterilization procedure is followed. Effective cleaning and disinfection is done in order to protect the hospital staff and to facilitate their work.

2.Act as deputy in charge when the CSSD supervisor is on a yearly vacation.

3.Maintains and operates sterilization equipment (Steam and Sterrad) and log documents.

4.A sterile processing technician responsibility includes decontamination, endoscope cleaning, and experience/knowledge of a variety of sterilization techniques including: Steam, ETO, Sterrad (low temperature sterilizer).Surgical instrument tray assembly and wrapping Case cart management including storage, rotation, and transportation of sterile supplies

5.Create clear responsibilities for assigned team members using documented standard work and routine measurement of performance against those standards.

6.Ensure the effective day to day operations of the CSR department, making staffing and work load adjustments to meet the needs of our internal customers.

7.Serve as department resource to assist and train staff by acquiring and maintaining subject matter expertise in all aspects of CSR operations.

8.Responsible for the effective cleaning, inspection, maintenance, proper sterilization and distribution of sterile instrumentation and equipment.

9.Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure all supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available for surgical cases as well as other procedures requiring sterile supplies and/or instrumentation.

10.The Sterile Processing Department (Central Supply, or Sterile Supply as it is also known), comprises that service within the hospital in which medical/surgical supplies and equipment, both sterile and non sterile, are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored, and issued for patient care. Medical/surgical supplies were, for the most part, processed and maintained in the departments and patient care areas in which they were to be used.
