Position involves coverage analysis, including how the claim is affected by New Jerseys

insolvency statute, investigation, settlement and direction of defense attorneys as to personal

lines and commercial high value claims in New Jersey and metropolitan area. The claims are

from insolvent carriers including Reliance and Home Insurance. The type claims include

commercial environmental (primarily pollution and asbestos) and also personal lines

Homeowners UST claims, personal and commercial auto, construction defect, legal

malpractice.

and arbitration in addition to settlements. Additional responsibilities included litigation

management, vendor supervision and managing extensive case load. Office relocated to Clark,

NJ and I decided not to make the commute.

Claims Consultant

Consulting and various temporary claim positions with several temporary claims agencies which

involved personal lines and commercial companies while seeking fulltime employment in the

insurance industry. This was the result of IRISC not having work resulting in several positions

being cut at IRISC (a thirdparty administrator).

Responsible for handling of general liability and also assumed reinsurance runoff claims such

as with Constellation Reinsurance, also all aspects of casualty claim evaluations, including

and litigation management. Claim count involved approximately 200 policyholders.

Position involved analysis of primary and excess coverage involving environmental claims,

reinsurance implications dealing with ceded claims, facultative certificates, treaty interpretation,

and technical claim input to assist claim handlers. Additional responsibilities included acting as

a representative between Crum & Forster and its treaty and facultative reinsurers.

Reviewed claims involving large loss exposure. Responsibilities involved reviewing commercial

liability umbrella and excess claims. This position required extensive investigation of the claims,

issuance of coverage position letters, attendance at settlement conferences, audits, and

directing coverage and defense counsel.

Position required direct technical supervision of excess and umbrella claims nationwide. I acted

as a liaison between Midland and their facultative and treaty reinsurers, prepared detailed reports

to reinsurers apprising them of serious cases which might affect their layers. Established

reserves and audited underlying claim files where the limits were being exhausted.
