After graduating from boot camp I served on the USS Plymouth Rock (LSD-29)
rising to the rank of Machinery Repairman Petty Officer 3rd Class. My time
in the service included a North Atlantic and Mediterranean deployment as
well as time in Maryland Shipbuilding and Dry dock. I received a Letter of
Commendation for my exemplary service from my Commanding Officer (Captain
J.J. Larson) and was Honorably Discharged at the end of my enlistment in
August of 1976.
