Duties:

1.Business Planning

Providing input for business plan formulation.

Developing departmental objectives and action plans to meet the Business Plan objectives.

Scheduling Steel Plant Production on receipt of Hot metal from Blast Furnace.

Compiling weekly and monthly production reports.

Preparation of Monthly cost of production reports within the Steel Making.

2.Formulation of Process Development

Analyzing process, quality and productivity performance data and carrying out audits to identify opportunities for improvement.

Assessing the benefits of potential improvement projects.

3.Project Management

Preparing work schedules for projects detailing procedures, manpower, equipment requirements and time deadlines.

Coordinating the activities of relevant personnel during project implementation.

Comparing the results of completed projects against the stated project objectives and recommend appropriate future action.

4.Process Standards

Carrying out technical literature research on worldwide Steel making process practices.

Monitoring and analyzing process and productivity performance with a view to identify shortcomings in relation to standards set in the business plan.

Carrying out process audits and identifying deviations from standard practice and raising non- conformance reports.

5.Plant Process Trials

Identifying opportunities for product and process development or improvements and recommending necessary trials.

Compiling proposals and justification to carry out trials.

Compiling trial procedures in respect of authorized trials detailing manpower, equipment requirements and time deadlines.

Initiating the implementation of authorized trials, evaluating the trial results and recommending appropriate action.

6.Quality Management

Monitoring energy utilization and recommending action needed to reduce energy consumption.

Identifying opportunities for waste reduction and utilization of process by products, and safety improvements.

7.Staff Development And Control

Identifying the training needs of key personnel and offering such training.

Recommending disciplinary action in respect of deviations from standard practice resulting in process failures or production of sub standard products.
