Project Highlights

Research and Development of a Tunnel Experimental Apparatus (was awarded the 1st prize of China National Science and Technology Process Awards in 2012.)

The project was a sub-project of "Basic Research on Design and Manufacture for Full-size Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)", a National Basic Research Program of China under Grant-973, the total investment for the project is $8 MCAD. The TBMs were produced 160+ sets.

Key Responsibilities

Developed and built a reduced sized prototype of a Ф6.25m EPB (Earth Pressure Balanced) shield machine on similar theory including the mechanical and control system.

Built a creative structure of the cutting and driving for simulation performance to meet the needs of interface equilibrium, cutting and driving experiments.

Realized the integrated performance simulation and analysis of kinematics, dynamics and control based on the structural and dynamic parameters design of the TBM prototype.

Built a virtual prototype of whole equipment on 3D modeling and CAE. Completed FEA of structure, kinematics and dynamic analysis, modal behavior, vibration analysis, structural optimization on Multi-CAD interoperability system including SolidWorks, Ansys and MSC.ADAMS.

Analyzed static, dynamic and vibration behavior of the complete set of equipment and key components in terms of critical load conditions during the processes of launch.

Professional Experience-Continued

Optimized structure and made recommendations to improve boring performance of the TBM on Virtual Prototype Technology and real model testing.

Researched technique of the integration between the hydraulic system and electrical control system for structure design and control system optimization of tunneling machine.

Project Highlights

Design of a 5-Axis CNC Machining Center

Researched and optimized structure and dynamic performance of a 5-axis CNC machining center which products Super Alloy Turbine Blade. The machine with new design went into product in 2012.

Key Responsibilities

Designed and formulated a general analysis scheme of performance, completed feasibility analysis of the scheme.

Completed optimization design of structure based on in-situ test and CAE.

Project Highlights (Using SolidWorks)

Restoration of aAstronomical Clock Tower

Restored a water lifting system in the hydro-mechanical astronomical clock tower(Su Song clock tower, in 1095). The total investment for the project is $1.2 M.The clock was successfully rebuilt in 2012 and is showing in China Science and Technology Museum.

Key Responsibilities

Developed a lift water system and a low flow liquid handling and pumping system within ergonomics and a two-stage steady flow system in order to exactly control flow to drive the clock to accuracy.

Resolved a sync driving between water power and mechanical energy to achieve manual/auto disturbance-free switching.

Project Highlights (Using SolidWorks)

Design of a Aperture Spherical Telescope

500-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) is the largest single-aperture telescope in the world, The total investment is $120 MCAD.

Key Responsibilities

Completed the draft preliminary design of general structure of the FAST feedback cabin with a Steward Platform using cables driving.

Project Engineer 2001-2007

Advanced Manufacturing Research Institute, Northeastern University,www.neu.edu.cn, Shenyang, CHINA

Researched dynamic performance of 3-UPS hybrid machine tool

(The in-depth research aimed at a new type of 3-UPS hybrid machine tool (Industrial Robot) on its mechanism type, motion and dynamic performance.)

Studied theory and technology of controllable stiffness and damping joint of lower-mobility parallel mechanisms.
