Deck Foreman Job Description:

The Deck Foreman is responsible to provide support to the Heavy Lift Supervisor (Crane Operator) with regards to safe operations of the vessel's cranes to load / un-load SagaDril, Operators' and third-party equipment and supplies. In addition, the Deck Foreman is responsible for rigging down / rigging up operations.

Provide Crane Operator and Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and fort coming operations.

Ensure the cranes are operated safely and within their design parameters.

Supervise all crane and deck operations such as running casing, picking up / laying down tubulars and placement of equipment.

Coordinate supply boat traffic, specifically loading / un-loading of equipment and materials.

Assist with operation of bulk system loading, transfer and general usage.

Monitor quantities of expendables, such as fuel, potable and drill water.

Supervise installation and / or replacement of mooring lines and bulk fill-up hoses.

Ensure that lifting gear used with the cranes, including slings, shackles & spreaders, is certified and matches current color codes.

Reporting to the Stability Section Leader, the Deck Foreman's main responsibility is to manage the day to day deck work for the Marine Department.

Summary:

Plan work for deck crew before work commences and include relevant personnel in the planning process.

Ensure all Lift Plans are completed correctly and signed off on completion.

Authorize all Lift Plans,

Effectively participate in encourage active participation.

Assure effective execution of mechanical lifting operations and directly supervise non-routine or special lifting operations including any involving simultaneous operations.

Manage the rigging loft to ensure all lifting / hoisting equipment has current and up to date inspection / certification status.

Ensure the lifting equipment register is properly maintained and up to date.

Organize deck for safe, efficient and effective operations.

Manage change effectively through participation in the Hazard Management, Stop Work and / or Corrective Action Procedures.

Prepare handover reports for supervisor and relief and advise the latter verbally of current, past and impending operations.

Ensure all lifting operations taking place on the installation are performed according to Policies, Procedures and local / national regulation.

Liaise with the Barge Engineer to maintain variable deck loadings and organize / maintain deck and hull load distribution.

Direct material transfer to / from work boat / supply vessels.

Actively participate in all safety meetings and contribute with relevant points.

Complete and submit reports, logs, records and notes in accordance to procedures and instructions, conducting lifting operations under LOLER, regulations.

Preparing, reviewing and authorizing Risk assessments for Lifting Operations.

Planning, Authorizing and Supervision of Lifting Operation.

Competent with the Safe use of lifting equipment.

Inspection of lifting equipment and the concept of discard criteria.

Safe Systems of Work, Assessment of personnel, Management of personnel. The management of rigging lIfts, Hose Management,Risk Assessment, Offshore Crane operation

Deck Foreman Main Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on rig equipments.

Weekly life boat inspection and maintenance.

Chemical store over head crane PMS.

Responsible for inventory of lifting gears and all Barge equipments.

Responsible for supervising Deck Crew and liaise between deck crew and Barge Master.

Day to day maintenance of deck machinery, paintwork and planned maintenance.

In charge and assist during deck, handling, mooring, anchoring and towing operations.

Maintain rigging & lifting equipment log sheets, recording schedule and unscheduled maintenance on deck machinery.

Supervise the crane operations and support/supply of equipment to and from e.g. (but not limited to) the drill floor.

Ensure that all Junior Crane Operators are being trained to the best of their ability in main cranes, gantry cranes and knuckle boom crane.

Assist/supervise activity in all practical aspects of marine/deck related routines and planned maintenance of marine/deck equipment.

Ensure that all Crane Operators maintain the cranes on a daily basis and as per PM plan in general. Supervise the Roustabouts.
