Technology Ventures - Fannie Mae Dallas, TX Oct 2013 to Present

Programmer Analysis III

Created and supported an Oracle SQL system to give ease of access to team members to the AutoSys command structure. This system required the creation of several Oracle tables and the SQL code to insert, update, and retire entries. This was accomplished through the use of UNIX shell scritping and SAS programs.

Supported the Credit Loss Management MIS Production Team by creating and maintaining AutoSys jil files that control and monitor the flow of production jobs.

Using shell scripting and SAS programs, wrote scripts to convert all AutoSys jobs from UNIX to SAS Grid Linux. Also wrote scripts to update existing SAS 9.2 production scripts from UNIX to Linux SAS 9.4 grid systems. Tested the new Linux systems and made corrections to any scripts that did not run as expected to accommodate minor differences between UNIX and Linux commands.

Assisted in the movement of SAS programs and SAS datasets from acceptance to production.

Responsible for bulk waive/select requests and the Waive Select End User Computing (EUC) utilities to control the status and flow of loan services. Tested and verified accuracy of data during transition of Waive Select EUC from Access 2003 to Win 8/Access 2013.

Raytheon, Garland, TX Apr 2001 to Aug 2013

Senior Software Engineer II

Supported the Operational Monitoring and Performance Analysis Team by selecting data stored on an Oracle database to produce both standard and special request reports for the customer.

Worked with the customer during requirements gathering to fully understand the data that was being received, as well as the customer’s needs.

Through SAS scripts, created an automated report processing system for the production of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.

Supported gathering and loading of performance data from multiple sources. Worked on optimizing SAS queries of the Oracle database to expedite distribution of data to team members to respond to customer requests.

Supported SAS versions 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3 over a period of 7 years:

Created new SAS scripts as required by the customer and followed the technical specifications that were provided.

Modified and enhanced SAS scripts per customer’s new requirements.

Debugged SAS scripts and corrected any logic errors that were found.

Analyzed the SQL performance of each SAS script.

Optimized the SAS queries as required.

Supported Oracle database versions 10g and 11g over a period of 7 years:

Developed applications and special support using both Oracle Express (Apex) and PL/SQL.

Monitored disk space to know when to expand table spaces, balance disk drives, and when to plan for purchasing additional hardware.

Monitored customers’ data file to ensure that the file had not changed formats. This would indicate a new version of software had been rolled out, requiring updates to the control files.

Added, maintained, and removed user ids as needed.

Created and maintained new schemas as new customers or new systems were added to the databases, along with making recommendations of primary/unique keys, partitioning of data fields, and creating indices.

Constant monitoring of Oracle performance to make adjustments in the tuning to provide smooth processing.

Skilled using both sqlplus and Oracle Enterprise manager.

Created and maintained UNIX and Linux shell scripts for more than 12 years.

Created informational scripts that would return data on items such as space used.

Created shell scripts to process SAS scripts based on criteria stored in an Oracle table about when jobs should process.

Utilized Cron to start the execution on all regularly processed scripts.

Wrote Shell scripts for ksh and csh shells.

Participated in an IRAD to evaluate High Capacity Disk Management (HCDM) systems. This required obtaining large files in different formats like NITF, GMTI, and XML. Then using scripts to push these files to the HCDM ingest manager for testing the speed of ingestion.

Worked on several RFCs including Dynamic Feedback Agent (DFA) and Product Quality (PQA). The DFA is an interface, using custom TCP/IP connections between receiving ingestors and the switch that is directing which ingestor should receive the dataset. The DFA receives statistics about all available space on the ingest servers and reports this to the switch. This allows for the switch to pick the ingestor with the most available space.

Performed initial design, detail design, coding and initial testing for the PQA. The PQA is a process that selects datasets that will be passed to the quality team for further evaluation and is controlled from a fully configurable criteria configuration file. The artifacts are in Rational Rose and development code is C++ and OO design and methodology. The processes for the program support the CMMI level 3 standards.

Worked in the DR role supporting functionality related to device management for transfer of data via custom TCP/IP sockets that interfaced to external entities. Worked on RFCs for modifying systems communications to allow for eliminating the need for a process manager.

Abacus Technical Services Richardson, TX Oct 1999 to Apr 2001

Contract Software Engineer – Raytheon Company

Performed minor enhancements and provided DR workoff support on existing Media Archive Control (MAC) device servers. This is a subsystem for an ER-90 tape drive attached to a Silicon Graphics unit (SGI). The MAC is written in C++ on a UNIX based SGI workstation using OOA/OOD methodologies. The XPS was designed to transfer datasets via custom TCP/IP sockets. This project entailed design, coding and testing. In addition, created an XPS device simulator and modified the EDS Fault Parm Editor (FPE) to support this device.
