Work Experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble and prepare the machine, sterile packs,

instrument,equipment,drapes,gloves and other Necessary supplies needs

specific to each procedure

Review the surgeons requirements and preference for specific

operative cases

Prepare equipment and instruments in the sterile field

Assist the surgeon and surgical assistants as a sterile scrub nurse

Maintain an accurate count of needles, sponges and instruments

Ensure proper and correct documentation including counts of all

instruments sharps and swabs and ensures all specimens are labeled

correctly and transferred to the laboratory .

Check patients name with the chart and schedule, and make sure that the

consent for the surgery was properly signed by the relatives and pre-

operative medication were given by the floor nurse

Complete documentation,keeping an accurate nurses record

Count sponges & instruments, surgical needles and other sharps with

circulatory Nurse before closure of the wound in accordance with

established count procedure.

Completes the operative records including post-operative diagnosis and

specimens thats needs to be Sent to the laboratory for diagnosis

Prepare and transfer the patient to recovery room and endorse the patient

to recovery nurse with documents and specimen

Hand over the patient and documents to the wardnurse.

Responsible to do daily checking of equipments.

Packing and autoclaving the instruments.

Responsible to do carbolizing of operation theatre.

In charge of handling Narcotics and controlled drugs

Responsible to prepare monthly inventory of instruments and

submitting monthly inventory.

Assisting the surgeon for Upper and lower GI Endoscopy.

Assisting the surgeon for colonoscopy.

Assisting the surgeon for Sigmoidoscopy.

Assisting the surgeon for Bronchoscopy
