MestReNova, Chemdraw software.

Research Experience

2015 (Jan – May) Chemistry project: “Synthesis of pyrazolopyrimidone derivatives”

Chemistry project in organic synthesis under the supervision of Dr. John Stephens, synthesising novel compounds for the possible treatment of type-2 diabetes

“RTC53” is a hit compound discovered in Dr. Stephen's research group. This compound is

active at regulating glucose levels and maybe a possible therapeutic for diabetes. We want to

make new derivatives of this to explore the role of the CF3 in the glucose uptake. Also

determine is CF3 essential for the glucose uptake or could we change it for a different group

in ortho, meta and para positions and see if we still get glucose uptake.

2014 (Sep – Dec) Biology research project: “Molecular & cellular diversity of skeletal muscles”

Researched various groups of muscle fibre types & their metabolic pathways. Compared functions. Identifying & reference professional sources. Composed a 32 page research paper & presented findings to a class of peers.

Previous Employment

2013 (June – Sep) QC Analyst

CN Creative, Grafton Street, Manchester, United Kingdom

Familiar with cGLP, GMP, HAZOP and HAZAN

Testing non medicinal products using waters HPLC and Empower 3 software

Insuring data integrity and recording data validation

Experience working in a grade D GMP clean room and cleaning procedures

2003 - 2008 Soldier (Gunner)

Irish Defence Forces, McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7, Ireland

During my time with the defence forces I learnt valuable teamwork skills; this helped me to understand group dynamics and how to identify different strengths and weaknesses in a team.

I've also done a 6 month overseas mission to Liberia where I worked with United Nations.
