Professional Engineer (APEGA-Canada) and Chartered Engineer (IE-India), experienced in design engineering of power distribution systems for oil & gas industries and construction management & distribution engineering for utility power systems:

A.Engineering for Oil & Gas Industries and Power Utility Sector

1.Engineering of LV / MV / HV (480V to 132kV) Power Distribution Systems:

-FEED & detailed Engineering as Electrical Lead / Responsible Engineer for LV / MV / HV (up to 13.8kV) power systems for plants & refineries, well PADs & sites and gas pipe line compressor / booster stations

-Engineering of utility electrical distribution systems (up to 33kV) including substations (up to 132/33kV)

-Technical support during construction & response to field RFIs

2.Scope of Work for Green Field & Brown Field Projects:

-Site visits for field data collection / assessment of project scope of work; reviewing constructability for oil & gas facilities / plants and for utility

-Site meetings on behalf of clients with utilities for supply intake to oil & gas facilities & electrical service requisition for approval from the utilities

-Estimation of budgetary capital project cost; engineering man-hour & bill of materials for AFE related to oil & gas industries and for utility

-Cost optimization by performing economic analysis of multiple proposals for utility and oil & gas plant / facility electrical systems

-Electrical design criteria & basis for projects related to oil & gas industries

-Site selection for new substations in compliance with existing regulations based on load growth, system outages & system loss in the licensed area

3.Studies:

-Power system study including load flow, short circuit, arc flash c/w relay coordination, harmonic, etc. with ETAP & SKM Power Tools

-Client’s existing electrical system loading capacity & availability of spares

-Impact of new load on the utility distribution system feeding the facility

-Fugitive emission study for process buildings

4.Calculations & Lists:

-MD load calculations based on P&IDs and mechanical equipment lists

-Electrical load & equipment lists and material take-offs

-Sizing of transformers, switchgear, isolators, MCCs, UPS & batteries, panels, EHT controllers, Modular electrical & control buildings

-Voltage drop & sizing calculations for power cables

-Tray / conduit fill and lighting calculations

5.Diagrams, Schematics, Layouts & Schedules:

-Single line diagrams including protective relaying for oil & gas industries

-Motor & VFD control schematics

-lighting & miscellaneous control schematics

-Area classification layouts based on detailed area classification datasheets

-Cable & cable tray layouts

-GA layouts, BOMs & AC Control diagrams for substations

-Electrical equipment including lighting / receptacle & grounding layouts

-Cable & panel schedules

6.Purchase Support for Procurement:

-Specifications & datasheets including selection of cables, transformers, switchgear c/w relays, isolators, lightning arresters, CTs & VTs, UPS & batteries, NGRs, MCCs, VFDs, EHT controllers, modular buildings, etc.

-Material requisition for quotes, technical bid evaluation & material requisition for purchase of electrical equipment

-Review of vendor packages for electrical, I & C and mechanical disciplines

-Motor datasheets and inputs to instrument datasheets

-Interaction with vendors for new technological inputs into design packages and vendor coordination for FAT & delivery of equipment

-Inspection of engineered E & I buildings at vendors’ shops

-Management of close-out of project electrical packages

7.Interface Activities with Instrument & Control Discipline:

-Review of P&IDs, control panel I/O drawings and PLC cabinet layouts

-JB wiring diagrams; selection of I/C & FOC cables & analog / discrete JBs

8.Electrical Heat Trace Engineering & Design:

-Electrical heat tracing of pipes & vessels for large & small petrochemical facilities with / without modular construction

-Purchase support to procurement for controllers / cables / accessories

-Review of EHT isometric drawings with control circuit allocation, cable / panel schedules, MTO’s including supervision of designers’ work

-Delivering EHT designs including application 0f engineer’s seals

-Providing response against RFIs during construction

-Support to BD by preparing technical bids against RFQs form clients

B.Management for Power Utility

1.Management of Electrical Construction & Project Engineering for Substations (up to 132/33kV) and Alteration / Extension Works (up to 33kV):

-Coordination of contractors’ activities like installation of electrical equipment, cable laying / termination & testing / commissioning

-Reviewing project action list / commissioning schedule / construction punch lists / performing mechanical walk-through / sending pre-commissioning test notifications & commissioning reports to the appropriate authorities & provincial government / reviewing & approving switching programs / reviewing inspection & test reports / red lines

-Site visits during construction phases to resolve technical issues and to maintain project schedule, budget & quality standards

-Management of flow of key materials such as cables, jointing & termination kits, conductors, poles, feeder & distribution pillar boxes, switch-fuse Units, isolators, NGRs, etc.

-Technical audits; job completion & variance reports; miscellaneous reporting; correspondence with customers, contractors, organization management, various government departments and other utilities

-Management of project documentation / construction binder & as-builts

-Handover of turn-over certificate to operations department

-Maintaining liaison with various government departments, regulatory & civil bodies and other utilities
