Environmental Engineer
Saskpower, Canada, Dec 2009 to Feb 2015
Prepared logic and calculations for key performance indicators (KPI’s) for various pollution control equipment and other plant operations. KPI’s included Precipitators, LIFAC (spray dry type FGD system), Powdered Activated carbon injection systems for mercury control etc. for the entire fleet of lignite fired power plants at Saskpower.
Managed test planning, testing, data collection, analysis and report on various tests conducted at the Emission Control Research Facility (ECRF), a 7000cfm and with multiple gas treatment components such as bag houses, precip, gas cooler and the Indigo agglomerater for dust loading reduction. Prepared KPI’s for ECRF.
Ongoing participation in troubleshooting operating issues at the Carbon Capture Island of Boundary Dam Power Station Unit 3, which is a 150MW power plant with an operating carbon capture and storage component.
Participated in the design phase and identification of design issues for the PAVAC Electron Beam Flue Gas Treatment project at ECRF for carbon capture compatible FGD and NOx control.
Ongoing participation with the SCR project at Poplar River Power station which tests an SCR system with 1000acfm flue gas for catalyst deactivation and plugging issues when using Lignite and prepared reports. Conducted investigation for equipment suitability and prepared specs for an FTIR gas monitor, a Breen SO3 monitor and the Sodium Injection skid to simulate higher sodium content coal. Prepared KPI’s.
Reviewed Power plant stack monitoring requirements, studied an existing plant for relocation suitability of monitoring instruments to a more accessible location. Oversaw a CFD study to identify suitable alternatives. Identified sampling location, prepared test plan and prepared the proposal for the Ministry. Testing includes multiple mobile monitoring instruments for simultaneous measurement of gases, dust loading and mercury.
Identified flow anomalies inside LIFAC, conducted CFD investigations to mitigate the issue with the use of air foils and supported design and layout plan for installation.
Planned, conducted and reported on full scale soda ash injection into LIFAC reactor at Shand Power Station for SO2 control.
Conducted performance testing for flue gas desulphurization through the injection of limestone and lime into the furnace at SHPS, analyzed data and prepared reports.
Oversaw CFD analysis to identify ways to improve furnace side desulphurization using limestone reagent.
Oversaw detailed CFD investigation of the feasibility of Trona injection for flue gas desulphurization at Shand Power Station.
Performed ESP inspection at Poplar river power station. Environmental Systems Specialist
Gradworks, Canada, July 2009 to Nov 2009
Conducted investigation of LIFAC and other related spray dry flue gas desulphurization technologies at Shand power station.
Supported full scale parametric testing to improve performance of LIFAC at SHPS. Junior Field Engineer
Schlumberger Oilfield Services, Canada, May 2008 – Feb 2009 Worked as a wire line engineer providing open-hole logging services to Schlumberger Clients. Logged wells for Encana, Husky and others.
Achieved extensive safety training for different aspects of the Oil and Gas industry.
Acquired training in the theory, operation and maintenance of Resistivity, Induction, Nuclear and Sonic tools for Open-hole logging.
