W&I Accounts Management

Tax Examining Technician

Manager: Peterina Capestany

I started working at the IRS in W&I Accounts Management; specifically on Injured Spouse cases including Manual Refunds. I am proficient using IDRS, AMS, IAT, Microsoft, CIS, EUP, Office Communicator and oral and written communication. I also thoroughly research SERP, IRWeb and the IRMs to resolve and obtain information about tax administration. I participate in team discussions and activities to create a positive team culture and work environment. I actively participate in the progression of team goals and support the achieving of those goals.

At the end of the AM season, I was selected for an AUR detail; using IDRS and IAT, I batched out cases for the department. When a second group of details came in I reviewed their work for accuracy and completeness; I also passed out to the appropriate area installment agreements and power of attorney forms.

Once the AUR detail was over I was selected for an Exam Correspondence clerical detail; I researched, controlled cases on IDRS, batched and assigned cases to the team. I was proficient in accuracy, effectiveness and completeness on all aspects of my work.

I returned to Injured Spouse and worked the season, after which I was selected for a Statutes detail, I learned how to batch out work and understood the different MFT codes and determined the correct area of delivery.

Presently, I am in Accounts Management as a Customer Service Representative, I completed a 12 week CSR training course; I am certified in working Amended Returns covering a full range of exemptions, deductions and exclusions. With my IRS background, I was selected to backup the training instructor for the Injured Spouse training.

I have a comprehensive knowledge of on-line systems, research materials, technology, tools and processing procedures. I maintain a secure work environment which includes taxpayer disclosure requirements. I am skilled at inventory management procedures to control case work.
