SUMMARY

Product design lead in several areas. Including Ink Jet printers (micro fluidics), Bar code readers (opto-mechanics), medical products, and precision surveying equipment (opto-mechanics & manufacturing). Research into new product concepts including novel TV & extensions and Ink Jet printing technology. In support of above I have designed high volume injection molded parts, sheet metal part, castings, machined parts, optical components, and assemblies. I worked closely with Electrical Engineers on board design and shielding. I have a broad range in computer tools experience, including CAD (Proengineer & Creo,), Finite Element Analysis (mechanical, thermal, fluidic, free surface, & multi physics), optics modeling (Zemax, Fred), and mold flow simulation. I have 40+ issued patents many of them optical in nature.

I am currently independent contractor specializing in product design and analysis. I have delivered designs of automation equipment and solar lighting using my skills in COMSOL multi physics FEA and FRED optical design software as well as designs using Creo 3D CAD.

Chief Technology Officer. In this role I have improved production capabilities and selected cloud based software tools.

New product design – Contributed subassembly designs that go into Ink Jet Printer. In this role I delivered injection molded parts, sheet metal, and cast parts. I performed functional & manufacturability analysis on parts.

New product research – Member of a team that was developing product concepts to go into new markets. In this role I proposed, analyzed, prototyped, and demonstrated. I greatly enjoyed demonstrating the prototypes to both internal HP, and to external customers.

Reliability improvements – Designed solution that allowed inkjet products to meet shipping robustness goals using fluidic properties.
