Restructured entire plant operation to include development and introduction to MRP system, standard operating procedures, preventive maintenance program, training & cross training, quality assurance program, engineering guidelines, lean manufacturing practices, human resource guidelines, OSHA compliance and safety training.

Revised to current and implemented/introduced new machine processes and technologies.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

UNARCO Material Handling, Inc., Lewisville, TX (www.unarcorack.com) 2012 to 2013

UNARCO offers pallet rack, warehouse storage and engineered storage systems.

Reported directly to the VP of Manufacturing, oversaw and coordinated day to day operations of one hundred (100+) employees in a 300,000 sq ft facility.

Key Initiatives Include: Achieved a 99.4% on-time shipment record after being challenged with the company’s past failure to meet lead times and ship products on time. The improvement was achieved by introducing new procedures to determine lead times across all products; then designing and implementing scheduling procedures for each department, as well as a rigorous routine maintenance program to prevent break down of critical equipment.

Reported directly to the company owner, oversaw and coordinated day to day operations of employees on two shifts, including interviewing, hiring / training new employees, and performing regular employee reviews.

PRESIDENT (2001 – 2004)

After having worked for Allied Metal Products & Engineering for nearly 20 years I purchased the business from the third generation owner and operated this custom steel fabrication facility. Sold the company in 2004.

Key Initiatives Included: Increased Sales and Profitability over previous years after purchasing the business just after 9/11 and facing a major challenge maintaining revenue due to the shrinking economy. This was achieved by negotiating and entering into exclusivity agreements with the majority our Top 10 customers, which included guaranteed on-time delivery, one year price guarantees and a customer rewards program for regular customers.

Managed day-to-day operations including scheduling, quality, safety, transportation, OSHA, logistics, maintenance, customer service, purchasing, lease agreements, cost controls, training and strategic planning.

Accountable for Profit and Loss Statements, Budgets, and In-house audits.

Designed innovative processes to safely finish products to specifications within tight timeframes and in compliance with quality and production standards.

Developed testing procedures to verify functionality of mechanical products, and set-up systems for work control to assure standards of quality and performance were met.

The company saved over $35,000 in the first year of the preventative maintenance program, and received numerous awards for quality and timeliness.
