OBJECTIVE

To secure an Mechanical Design Engineer position with a progressive manufacturing company.

Solid Mechanical Engineering Professional with extensive Design, Development, and Analysis

experience. This has included the design and development of dust collection systems, radiant fusers,

pumps, fans, valves, catalyst beds, heat exchangers, temperature sensing equipment and devices,

and rotary separators. Also performed trade studies while coordinating activities between different

functional groups, and acting as a technical interface with several different customers and vendors.

Specific areas of expertise include the design of all types of dynamic machinery and mechanisms

including the design and analysis of bearings, springs, gears, cams, and diaphragms. Other strengths

include failure analysis, all types of structural analysis such as, deformation, load stress, thermal,

stress and rotational stress as well as performance analysis. Ive used Creo Elements Pro (Pro-

Sundstrand my inimitable attention to detail led to the position of Principle Designer on several major

design projects. My position at Parker Hannifin Corporation, Fluid Control Division saw me transition

into Project Management while maintaining the bulk of my core Development Engineering

responsibilities.

My most recent position at Temp-Pro Inc as Product Development Engineer / Engineering Manager

allowed me control of the projects including more control of the scheduling.

Product Development Engineer / Engineering Manager, Temp-Pro Inc, Northampton MA.

Planed and Managed daily Engineering activities such as, inventory levels, receipts, shipments,

and other issues, including Real-time updates when changes are made anywhere in the process,

through the use of a resource planning system called ProfitKey.

Directly supervise employees in Engineering and Drafting departments. Carry out supervisory

responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws.

Design temperature sensors and related product such as thermocouples and resistance

temperature devices (RTDs) for the power generation industry

Project Manager for Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) program for Temp-Pro. Achieved 30% cost

reduction goals for 80% of product

Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to

determine feasibility of design or application.

While at Parker Hannifin Corporation, Fluid Control Division I was responsible for managing the

divisional VA/VE (Value Added/Value Engineering) goals, which included managing and

qualification of alternate designs, suppliers, processes, and materials.

Saved more than $70,000/yr on Brass Forged Valve Bodies through the utilization of design

optimization, FEA software in FY 11.

Reduced component costs by $150,000/yr, exceeding the FY 12 VA/VE target of $114,000

Reduced component costs by $553,000/yr, exceeding the FY 13 VA/VE target of $477,000

Led a High Performance Work Team with a goal of steadily improving OTD (On Time Delivery).

Was the Design liaison for our Madison Mississippi Division, responding to all technical requests.

Localization of fuel valves in China, Managed and coordinated the production of one of our fuel

remained in place. (Result, Parker China could sell the valve at competitive prices.)

Steam & Hot Water Valve Improvement - 3/4" & 1/2". Managed a cross functional product

team and proceeded to create a derivative of one of two of our current Steam and Hot Water Valves.

(Result, Steam Valves capable of 2.5 million cycles.)

Responsible for leading and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, interacting with internal

groups, suppliers and customers, auditing of designs to ensure manufacturability, and provide

technical leadership to multifunctional team members to implement solutions.

Performing of mechanical design and analysis for product development in a multi-functional team

environment

Initiating, and executing of DFMEAs to assure customer requirements are met on the front end of

new projects. Through the application of advanced design tools, as well as Solid modeling, and

analysis software, I was involved in the design and/or improvement of a several fluid handling

system components.

Served in a Product Support role working with plant personnel on day-to-day production

problems.

Lead Special projects related to product line and implemented them in production on timely basis.

Apply Root Cause Analysis to determine cause of chronic performance and quality problems, as

well as work directly with the customer, and suppliers to help formulate solutions to customer

problems.

H-9, Motor Housing Re-Design. Eliminated 25% of the hysteresis during actuation. (Resulted in

the lowest Minimum Operating Pressure in the valves history.)

Hybrid Steam Valve Design. Re-configured valve utilizing the high temperature resilience of

Teflon, and the durability of EPDM to configure Orifice Seal. (Resulted in Steam Valve capable of

more than 1 million cycles).

Tokico Fuel dispensing Valve Re-Design. (Increased yield by 30%)

Assembly.

Redesign of the Space Shuttle Water Spray Boiler (WSB), focusing on the Heat Exchanger.

Flight design and development of a Liquid/Gas Phase Separator, Mostly Liquid Separator (MLS) for the

Space Station Water Processor System. One of the most complex components supplied to the Space

Station Program consisting of several integrated components such as a Solenoid Gas Discharge Valve, a

Diaphragm Pressure Sensor, an Optical Control System, and a Hydrodynamic Fluid Bearing System that

uses centripetal generated fluid pressure. Requirements presented a multitude of challenging modeling,

analysis, and material concerns as well as extensive Micro Gravity, and balancing requirements.

Responsible for the design and analysis of Commercial, Military, and Space Flight Environmental

Control and Life Support Systems from the concept and proposal stage through the development

and production stages of hardware including material selection and developing manufacturing

processes while guiding the products from design through manufacturing and assembly.
