Project Engineering/Client management -Coordinated efforts across different disciplines to deliver project on time and schedule. Worked on proposal preparation for clients.

Process engineering- P&ID development, hydraulic calculations, line sizing, insulation, heat tracing, equipment/ instrument specifications, line list, equipment list, valve list, specialty items list. Did piping model reviews and resolved HAZOP issues.

Mechanical engineering- Procurement of pumps, heat exchangers, fired heaters, water treatment systems (clarifier/ sludge thickener/ filtration/reverse osmosis/demineralization), Cooling tower, valves, condensers and other miscellaneous equipment. Performed design/ installation of heat tracing systems (electric/ steam/ hot oil).

Piping/ Pipe stress/ Pipe supports- Utilized ASME B31.1 for Power plant piping and B31.3 Process piping/ Refinery applications. Involved in formulating pipe specifications and wall thickness calculations. Interfaced with Piping Design group for reviewing General Arrangement drawings, piping layout, piping isometrics/spool drawing reviews. Did pipe stress calculations (CAESAR II 5.10) and recommended supports.

Field Support for Construction/Start-up- Provided support for all queries on process, equipment, piping, heat tracing, insulation etc. Visited construction site as needed for problem resolution.

Principal Process/ Project Engineer

Dow Chemical LA3, Crack more Ethane project, Plaquemine, Louisiana, USA, (Revamp)

Worked in a Process Engineering role during the Detail Engineering phase for debottlenecking the feed system and backend of an existing LA3 ethane cracker.

Developed Smartplant P&ID’s, Design Pressure Design Temperature (DPDT) diagrams, line lists, sized equipment lists, and insulation/tracing details. Attended model reviews (using Smartplant Review) and took follow-up action. Worked from Project Initiation to Project Conclusion.

Petroleos de Venezuela,S.A (PDVSA), Aquaconversion Project, Venezuela (Grassroots)

Worked in a Project Engineering role during the Conceptual Design Phase for upgrading 50,000 BPSD of extra heavy crude oil in order to reduce the light/medium crude oil diluent consumption in downstream operations. This plant has 10 Process units and 17 Offsite and Utilities units.

Prepared project scope, schedule, project execution plan and Coordination procedure. Responsible for the technical execution of the project within schedule & budget. Coordinated the Engineering work across all disciplines.

Worked on the FEED phase to develop work plans, man-hour estimates, DPDT procedure and P&ID’s (from scratch) for the Process units in Smartplant.

IPIC-Fujairah Refinery Project, UAE(Grassroots)

Responsible for all Process/Systems Engineering deliverables for preparing Process Design packages for a Hydrogen Production Unit and Visbreaking unit.

Cenex Harvest States (CHS,INC)Refinery, Laurel, Montana,USA- Mild Hydrocracker Unit (MHC) Project (Revamp)

Worked on the Process/Systems Engineering deliverables for the FEED package and Detail Engineering phase to convert an existing 200 Unit Oil Gas Hydrotreater to a Mild Hydrocracker unit.

Oman Refineries and Petrochemical Company (ORPC),Sohar Refinery Expansion (Grassroots)

Responsible for the development of P&ID/DPDT diagram/line list and pipe specifications for a Process Design Package of a 2.5 Million Metric Tons per annum (MMTPA) Solvent Deasphalting of Vacuum Residue and Bitumen Blending unit.

Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company, (Takreer)- Ruwais, UAE- Carbon Black and Delayed Coker and Gas plan (Grassroots)

Worked in a Project Engineering role for the development of a Process Design Package for the new two drum coker with a capacity of 29,500 BPSD. Coordinated the execution of this project between the different disciplines as well as worked on the development of P&ID’s and Line List

Reliance Petroleum Limited, Jamnagar Export Refinery- Jamnagar, India Project(Revamp)

Worked in a Project Engineering role for the revamp of the existing Delayed Coker Unit including Gas Plant with a capacity of 160,000 BPSD.

Project included detail engineering, procurement and construction.

Developed Process specifications, P&ID’s, line sizing/ line list, process data for control valve sizing, hydraulics, battery limit conditions etc.Purchased Heat exchangers,Fired heaters and Air coolers . LS Power, Combined Cycle Plant, Bosque County, Texas

Performed Design/Specification/Procurement for the Boiler makeup water system. This system included clarification, filtration, chemical injection, RO/Demin systems. Evaluated different Zero Liquid Discharge options and recommended the best option.

Mustang Station, Unit 5, Denver City, Texas- Power Plant Expansion

This 150MW simple cycle generating facility with one natural gas fired

GE 7FA combustion turbine generator was an add-on to an existing plant.

Did process calculations, P&ID development, interconnections with existing plant, Pipe specification, Line list, Valve list, Equipment list, valve and equipment specifications/procurement and system descriptions. Piping layouts monitored. Provided construction support.

[ 2002 - 2005 ] Mustang Engineering Houston, TX

Process/ Mechanical Facilities Engineer

East Area Gas, Exxon Mobil, Offshore Nigeria Project

This project was for developing planned facilities to gather and compress gas from offshore East Area fields, extracting natural gas liquids (NGL) & recompressing the gas for pressure maintenance and artificial lift.

Prepared instrument process datasheets in Intools .Resolved all Hazop issues.

Tesoro Refinery -Washington State, USA-Desulphurization (Revamp) project

This project was to produce Ultra Low Sulfur diesel. Prepared P&ID’s, equipment datasheets, line sizing/hydraulics during the FEED stage.

Thunder Horse, British Petroleum, Deepwater Development Platform, Gulf of Mexico

Worked on this multibillion dollar floating Production, Drilling and Quarters (PDQ) installation supported on a semi-submersible hull capable of producing 250,000 barrels/day of oil from a water depth of 6300 ft for 25 years.

Did topsides P&ID development & compiled mechanical data books.
