OSP Splicing Project Manager, Bear Communications (Grandview, MO) May 2014 - Aug. 2014

Directed 6 splicing teams and 24 locations to meet client specifications and deadlines for a Google fiber cable program. Inspected results and monitored cable wiring for use of correct types and counts. Tracked progress with the program manager.

Managed several fiber splicing projects relating to the Google Fiber to the Home (FTTH) initiative in the region, completing each fiberhood at or ahead of the specified deadline.

OSP Cable Technician, AT&T (Wilmington, NC)

June 2013 – April 2014

Finished line sheets assigned daily to condition cable pairs to pass TV/VoIP signals. Oversaw test controls for cross-connected boxes. Verified OSP splice points were dug before the techs were scheduled and covered once the work in the splice was completed. Verified OSP traffic controls met local codes, and scheduled aerial splicing assignments. Insured all techs had sufficient inventory on each vehicle for the work assignment day.

Contract Field Engineer, Sublime Wireless.com (White Plains, NY) Feb. 2013 - May 2013

Completed an integration project for a major telecom company: Set up software, temporarily cut over radios, and tested E911 systems.

Upgraded Sprint cell sites across the state of Pennsylvania to 4G LTE capabilities; oversaw the final transition for each cluster to new servers and radios.

Nortel Inc. – (June 1981 – Jan. 1995)

Led a courseware development group of 7 members to reduce training time 50% compared with corporate standards.

Analyzed the expenses of the Installation Quality Audit group of 2 managers and 14 auditors and cut down travel costs 10%.

Experience as District Manager for NE USA to direct the activity of 6 Supervisors and 48 techs to install digital

Switching systems; insured the permits were approved for each site, OPM Units to be placed on rights of way,

Secured pole attached agreement for T1’s to service OPM Units and RSC’s, insured utility make ready prior to attaching T1’s at OPM and RSC sites. Met quality, efficiency, and effectiveness corporate goals for a 3 year period and then promoted to Manager of Installation Management Training. These were large projects of 48 to 52 weeks, covered 15 states and required excellent Project Management skills to manage the Supervisors and Techs to meet project weekly goals.

Manager of Installation Management Training; developed the course curriculum, secured Subject Matter Experts as speakers, documented corporate expense values for each trainee, directed the end course dinner at local restaurants, and maintained corporate goals for class reviews.

Datel Inc. – (June 1978 – June 1981)

Directed the launch of a telecommunications equipment refurbishing plant in Puerto Rico, on time and under budget for Datel, Inc. established shipping and receiving procedures with the US business office; coordinated with

local government for electricity, phone and security; secured local injection molding resource; interviewed 12 techs and trained each for the procedures; and conducted reviews for each tech. Served as VP and GM.

Researched an alternative inventory supply for block pins, identifying an opportunity to recover scrap metal that

cut shipping expenses, while recovering 40% of inventory costs.

Minimized complaints by organizing a cutover group of 6-2shift teams to conduct a call through for each customer line, resulted in less than three reports per 10,000 lines for the upgrade of a local switching center. This effort created a follow up service for 5 other sites for this client, generating $300K for Datel, Inc.

Also held telecommunications management positions at Nortel and MCI/Worldcom and coordinated communications during combat operations for the United States Air Force and Marine Corps.
