SALIENT FEATURES IN DOCTORAL STUDY

Novel bioactive molecules/nutraceuticals extracted from pharmacologically active seeds of Nigella sativa L. by Supercritical fluid CO2 technology.

Major bioactive molecules are isolated and characterized by column chromatography and UV, IR, Mass and 1H and 13C NMR analysis using 2D HSQCT NMR spectra.

Characterized TQ appears to be promising as a potent natural antimicrobial as well as an antioxidant principle, which could replace the synthetic antibiotics and antioxidants for food, pharmacological and health care applications.

Drug delivery system of nano liposomes prepared by SCCO2 technology for bioavailability studies in in vivo models.

Thymol glycosides synthesized by biotransformation techniques like glycosylation with diverse carbohydrates using amyloglucosidase from Rhizopus mold in SCCO2 conditions. Of the glycosides synthesized, thymol-6-O-D-galactopyranoside (α and β forms), thymol-6-O-D-mannopyranoside (α and β forms), thymol-6-O-2-O-D-fructofuranoside,thymol-6-O-1-O-D-fructofuranoside,thymol-6-O-D-ribofuranoside (α and β forms) and thymol-6-O-D-arabinofuranoside (α and β forms) are reported for first time. The synthesized glycosides are capable of enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of thymol.
