I worked as a forklift operator during the cherry season at Delta Packing Co. for Salinas Farm Labor Contractor. My primary job duties were to load and unload trucks and move empty bins/materials throughout the warehouse. Other duties included the loading and unloading of products onto conveyor belts and running the various mechanical dumps/hoppers. Other job duties were not limited to, ensuring the smooth operation of the fruit dumping and weighing systems, ensuring proper operations of various pieces of equipment at all times throughout the work shift.

Slaughterhouse Worker

I was in charge of tagging and inspecting every side of beef before it went through a lactic acid wash and into the freezer to chill before either shipping or going to the cutting room. My duties also included the inspection of the sides of beef after the various procedures to insure quality.

I also operated a forklift to move different products to various locations within the warehouse.

I advanced very quickly, from being a forklift operator/warehouseman, to being the night shift supervisor, and then to being a quality control supervisor off site at a separate contracted warehouse.
