REGIONAL HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER, METALS & MINERALS DIVISION

Harsco Metals & Minerals provides manufacturing resource recovery services to companies in the steel industry. The company also provides logistics and scrap repurposing solutions for steel companies, local municipalities and road surfacing organizations. Several end products are developed such as road surfacing materials and steel mineral logical additives for the steel and aluminum industries. The Metals and Minerals division in the US is valued at approximately $150 million with an employee population of approximately 1500 employees. Products that Harsco manufactures and recycles from steel production are utilized in construction, road making and for more cost effective steel manufacturing.

Regional HR Manager for Harsco’s Metals and Minerals division with a dual reporting responsibility to a Regional Senior Operations Director and the Director of Human Resources for North America. Managed all human resources activities for 15 domestic facilities that included manufacturing plant operations at various Steel Mills with career disciplines such as logistics, maintenance/mechanics, machine operators, administrative, engineering, environmental, safety & health, procurement and production planning. Primary contact person for all labor relations activities for seven (7) union locations to manage contract bargaining/negotiations, grievances and contract interpretations. Supported HR initiatives including performance management, talent acquisition, policy interpretation/deployment, safety & health initiatives, etc. Conducted complex investigations related to EEOC complaints, Code of Conduct violations and other employee relations matters. Coordinated all HR responsibilities for a new start up location in Newport Arkansas. Managed several plant closings in Alabama, Michigan, East Chicago and Kentucky and assisted with transitioning lost contracts to successor companies. Collaborated with senior management in planning, development and implementation of effective HR strategies.
